Janet Yellen to clerk: Can you change a $500 bill?
Food prices are heavily related to oil prices since chemicals and transport account for much of the cost of food.
Oil prices were unsustainably low. Biden’s anti-hydrocarbon policies caused oil and food prices to soar.
They must be really paranoid. So it cost the tax payers $5,000 every time they go to the store.
Yellen: Is this the $1,000 or more aisle? I’m confused.
And this mayonnaise was $2.49 last time I shopped, maybe October,2020. Now it’s $7.19 and fewer ounces. And this little Fritos bag is the $6.99 the family bag used to cost. I’m going to ask for a pay raise. My $246,400 salary doesn’t go as far. I have to dip into my net worth assets. Until I go broke.
Note:
“Between 2018 and 2020, Yellen received over $7 million in speaking fees from financial companies such as Barclays, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and the hedge fund Citadel.”
From Wikipedia:
“Yellen has an estimated net worth of $20 million, accrued from stock holdings, speaking engagements, and various government and academic positions. Upon taking office as U.S. Treasury Secretary, she divested her shares including those in Pfizer, ConocoPhillips, and AT&T, among others.
Yellen inherited from her mother a collection of postage stamps worth between $15,000 and $50,000.She doesn’t collect them on her own.”
Wow.
Thanks for taking some bills out of your wallet and showing them to us on your post.
As a kid I read that Salmon P. Chase was on the $10,000 bill. Thought that was a funny name. Last one was 1945.
“The millionaire couple had six security people in tow”
When the nomenklatura goes shopping they have armed guards to protect themselves from the people they rob.
Why are we paying for this useless blumkin to have six armed guards?
And someone just happened to recognize her and be there to take a picture. Yeah, right.
This was staged.

As a low-income person, I’m certainly no expert, but restaurant food is expensive nowadays (especially from an online menu) and I have reason to believe Japanese restaurants are somewhat above average in pricing. Plus, the restaurant is in DC, so the prices probably should be considered reasonable.
That (one elderly couple pushing a grocery basket, being followed by SIX Security People??!!) must have looked rather odd, perhaps even conspicuous.
Other shoppers might get concerned for the apparently oblivious couple, and call for assistance.
“Ma’am, excuse me. Don’t look now, but there are five or six men wearing black suits and dark shades, who seem to be following you all over the store! Everyone’s lookin at them. Should I call Security?”
“six security people”
Your best protection is blending in. Send in a team that look like a husband and wife somewhat ahead or somewhat behind.
When the sh!t hits the fan and we are in a second Great Depression they will have to live in armed camps while rockets rain down on them.
They have an entire platoon of security people but don’t trust them and are too paranoid to allow 2 of them to go buy their groceries for them.
She goes shopping. Well, she’s an elite very wealthy woman. So she doesn’t feel anything from increasing prices. It’s simply 1 drop on the bucket, or 2 with these people.
“speaking fees”
from 2018 (no paywall):

That says a lot.
That’s what my security usually does, but exiting the helicopter in the Walmart parking lot usually gives me away.
I tend to think she is one of the better people, but systematic reform is needed in the USA.
The Great Depression was really bad because mortgages could be called.
Bad government in California makes people want to leave the state.
California rentier capitalist companies have many rich employee shareholders that can buy houses at top dollar for cash.
The Californians fleeing are able to buy houses at high prices nationwide, causing a nationwide housing cost problem.
She should be a contestant on Guy Fieri’s grocery games! She’s such an expert!
