I don’t understand the reason for these ‘bans’. A person bent on shooting up a campus doesn’t care about or obey a ‘ban’. The bans are not about stopping criminals from shooting people.
They are passed on the premise: Guns a bad. Only the government should have guns. Only government guns can be good guns.
Therefore, any restriction on the ownership, carry or use of guns by people who are not in the government is a good thing.
The above premise is not allowed to be questioned. It is holy writ to the Left.

I don’t understand the reason for these ‘bans’. A person bent on shooting up a campus doesn’t care about or obey a ‘ban’. It is not about preventing a shooting. It is about making a patchwork of zones where it is illegal to have a firearm. It is impossible to drive across a city like Boulder or Denver without crossing one or more of these zones.
Gotcha! If you are carrying a firearm for any reason and you are stopped, you can be arrested, and the firearm confiscated "for evidence". You will never get it back. Your CCW permit will be revoked immediately. You may be convicted of a felony and denied ownership of any firearms thereafter.
That is the purpose of these laws. They are an end-run around the so-called 2nd Amendment.
Politicians do not want an armed citizenry. The Constitution, be dammed. And they do not want people who will resist criminal predators with any kind of force.
This does not turn out well.
