Okay, so assuming those switched dates are now correct, doesn’t that make this an ex post facto law?

...to become the first to require oil companies to pay for “costs associated with climate change”

Not so fast, Vermont.

California and Washington have already implemented "Carbon Credits", which is just another scheme to extract slush funds from the oil industry. A Washington State auditor calculated our first year costs at $.50 a gallon (and was fired for it).

Welcome to the party, pal!

LOL........I saw the 2000 as 2020 until you mentioned it, and even for a minute afterwards.

It can be amusing the tricks the mind plays when it expects to see something other than what it actually sees.

They should simply stop doing business in Vermont.

Just raise the price and pass it down to the customer. They voted for it

Yes you are wrong. There is a 20 year period in between those dates. It would be better expressed as Jan. 1 ,2000 to Dec. 31, 2019.

Wrong, the people of Burlington, Rutland, NYC, and Stanford Connecticut elect these fools. The rest of us suffer for it.

. . . or raise the price of oil and gas shipments to those states sufficiently to cover the cost.

Not very Republican!

Do you really believe any government official from Vermont is really a republican, in the true sense of being conservative?

Two problems. First, the legislation is probably written so that a company doesn’t have to do business in the state to be liable. Second, if a company refused suddenly refused to do business in the state over this, I’m sure the state would sue them to force them to continue (probably citing humanitarian and public safety concerns) and care to guess how that would go, considering the condition of our court system?

Oil companies, mutual funds, stocks, 401k’s, ect take a hard hit, but better now than let this crap get outta control !
DO IT!!!!

See how Vermont likes it with no oil or gas, or heat in the winter! I guarantee it wouldn’t go a month before they cave!

In a few thousand years, the Great Cold will return, and last for quite a while. I would love to watch the future Comedy Channel showing AlGore and his minions stating “the Earth has a fever” as Vermont residents laugh and shiver.

To play with the liberal skulls full of mush, the oil companies should declare that they are immediately ceasing the use of fossil fuels, and will from now on only use clean, sustainable, renewable hydrocarbons.

The executives could also all show up to Congressional hearings in dresses and high heels. Any attacks could be met with accusations of sexism, racism, transphobia, and anti LGBTQWERTY.

Who are the clowns of Vermont going to assess for the last five major volcanoes that have pumped 100 billion tons of ash and vapor into the upper atmosphere since Jan 15, 2022??

I’m guessing VT doesn’t need “fossil” fuels.

It gets cold there and you can’t cut the trees for firewood.
