Perez’s nightmare ended shortly after police got a phone call from his sister, who said their father was alive and well. He had actually walked to the train station in Fontana and rode the line to Los Angeles County to visit a relative and then took a bus to visit a female friend, Steering said. Perez Sr. later went to the airport to await a flight to Oakland to visit his daughter.
"Oops. My bad."
Never, ever talk to cops.
Ever.

Don’t Talk to the Police

Great example here. “I have nothing to say to you without the presence of my attorney. I want an attorney now.”
And if I were on this city council, everyone involved would be looking for a job, if I had my way.
The video is hard to watch. They mentally tortured this man until he had a total breakdown and said whatever he thought would get them to stop. They had him thinking his father was dead and that it was really possible he had killed him.
They then had him hospitalized for that mental breakdown and told the hospital he was to have no contact with the outside world.
The settlement was not enough. It should be quadrupled and the cops involved should be imprisoned for about ten years for torture.
Among the first to give the police the benefit of the doubt, but this is shocking!
