While the platform appeared willing to accommodate the Australian eSafety Commissioner regionally, that apparently was not enough for the Australian state, which has since demanded global censorship of the video.
So the Australian government not only wants to control what people see there but in the rest of the world as well.
Musk told Australia, "No deal." Tasmanian Sen. Jacqui Lambie is outraged. She told Sky News that she wants Musk jailed and that she has deleted her X account. She is calling on the rest of the Australian Parliament to do the same.
Wow, “deleted her X account.”
That’s such a major move, lady.
Time for Musk to offer VPNs for any Aussie to help them circumvent the fascist regime.
RE: That’s such a major move, lady.
Not really. I had a Twitter account for several years before Musk took over and deleted mine after he took over. It’s such a waste of time and I’ve never followed anyone ( yep, not even Trump) or posted anything anyway.
“the Australian government informed X that the video needed to be removed from the platform.”
Brazen. They just flaunt the censorship of free speech openly. When the hell do they think they got the power to openly decree items be removed from the news?
We Mean it, man!
Aborigine who created her own party and named it after herself.
“In May 2015, she formed the Jacqui Lambie Network political party with herself as leader. She was elected to a six-year term in her own right at the 2016 federal election (a double dissolution). In November 2017, she was revealed to hold Australian-British dual citizenship, having inherited British citizenship from her Scottish-born father. As part of the parliamentary eligibility crisis, she announced her resignation on 14 November 2017. After a recount, she was replaced by Devonport Mayor Steve Martin, who had been second on the JLN ticket in the 2016 federal election. He survived a challenge to his own eligibility, on a different constitutional ground, but refused to step down so as to create a casual Senate vacancy to which Lambie could be appointed. She later expelled him from the party for disloyalty”
Amazing how much old rock has turned out to be very prescient.
I still don’t understand WHY the Australian government wants the video removed... what exactly is their concern about the video being there? ( Heck it’s been shared and downloaded millions of times by now, what are they going to do about it?).
It puts moslems in a bad light. That is very anti-Aussie for some reason.
RE: Questions can lead to accountability. And accountability can lead to changes in government.
Well, if it is the sick deed of ONE twisted individual, in what way is the Australian government accountable?
That’s like blaming the President for every single mass shooting here.
RE: It puts moslems in a bad light. That is very anti-Aussie for some reason.
Muslims have been committing atrocities EVERYWHERE, and this isn’t the first instance of Islamist-related crimes and terrorist attacks in Australia. I can show at least 4 off the top of my head. They are already shown in a bad light from these past experiences.
In my younger days I always thought Australia would be a cool place to relocate to. Now I wouldn’t even want to visit.
Tasmanian Sen. Jacqui Lambie needs to be taken out back and Che’d.
“Aborigine who created her own party and named it after herself.”
They only people who are MORE FASCIST than white men are *** people, like it or not.
***fill in the blank, you won’t be wrong.
What exactly makes these arrogant A-holes in office in Australia think they get to dictate to everybody else in the world what they may or may not see or say?
Really.....who the eff voted for you? No Americans did. This is not your country. You get no say here.
The left often reuses/recycles its themes and names
