Well......it is true that New England was the absolute epicenter of the slave trade industry for the entire western hemisphere. It is furthermore true that they derived enormous profits from peddling human flesh and that these profits went directly into building up their institutions like the Ivy League as well as providing the seed capital to start several large banks and major corporations. Finally, it is also true that they never disgorged this unjust enrichment. Unlike the Southern states which were left economically devastated for about a century due to the war and discriminatory taxes/tariffs, New England never paid any sort of price for their sins when it comes to slavery.
Given how much New Englanders loved to preach on the issue and how self righteous they’ve long been about it once they realized they could no longer derive massive profits from slave trading, I think it only appropriate that they finally start coughing up some money to make good on their moral obligation here. In fact, I’m all in favor of their reparations bill being quite stiff and staying in place for a long long time. Its only just.
They should also be reminded it was their fellow black people who caught and sold them to the slave traders. There were also plenty of white slaves under the guise of "indentured servants" who were worked, literally, to death whereas the black Africans were well taken care of so they would continue to serve their owners in perpetuity.
We are incompatible. How much more evidence is needed. Diversity is death and destruction.
Want reparations go to Africa it’s where the problem started no place else did.
How many Bostonians died in the Civil War to abolish slavery?
Reparations were paid in full in the form of blood sacrifice, for and against.
Over 700,000 dead, tens of thousands gave arms, legs, eyes to their cause.
How is it that of the 20m slaves brought across the Atlantic, 400k (or 2%) ended up in the United States and we’re still the great white satan? It’s because South America doesn’t have a democrat party.
