I would not go so far as to say collapsed,
Collapsing? okay.
Fair enough, that is possible.
I would expect experience, and likely future training & supplies, from Iran and Russia.
Russia is probably pretty pissed off about NATO troops in Ukraine.
If they don’t respond, it makes them look weak.
This foolishness needs to end.
WHEN will the outrage for this “ENVIROMENTAL” disaster begin.?
My understanding is that Yemen is big. A failed nation. The Iran funded and trained and led rebels control the areas they operate from. No normal Yemeni national government is ever going to do anything meaningful to stop these Attacks internally.
Any lasting and effective action to stop it will have to come entirely from us and Iran will also need to to be walloped so hard that it’s government folds and changes.
Have I got this mostly correct?
Anything less is meaningless noise.
It helps to put the problem in writing clearly.
Yes. I get that.
There was a time when jingoism ruled the Empire -- UNTIL IT DIDN'T ANY MORE.
It clearly does not in this day. How far behind are we here in the U.S. (including the entire anglosphere)
The point of my original comment is, we're not that far behind.
“Britons never will be slaves.”
“Never” is about to run out.
More humanitarian supplies to baby mutilating terrorist. Good job president Retard
I doubt the Brits are capable of it
Wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Yeah, but it's still a song the Brits love to sing. It's almost like their second national anthem. In the meantime, not only has their empire crumbled, but now their nation, with it's almost 2000 years of history, is all but lost. As you said, "never" is about to run out.
OK, I can go with “collapsing.” But I’m reminded of the old joke about the two guys who got into a knife fight. The first makes a sweep at the second one with his knife. The second guy says, “Ha! You missed me!”
The first one says, “Yeah? Just try to turn your head.”
I’ve seen no information that a US Arleigh-Burke destroyer (or the UK’s HMS Diamond) was close enough to intercept a Houthi missile from hitting the Rubymar. The Germans couldn’t even down a big slow US Predator drone, so I have severe doubts they can take out a missile. I’ve also not seen anything about the French intercepting missiles successfully - just drones. Besides, unless we are directly protecting their ships in a prevent or escort manner, I would not expect the Brits, French, or Germans to “cover” our ships — I just don’t think that kind of coordination is happening at this time.
So, unless there WAS a US ship close enough to defend the Rubymar, well, several other ships have been hit previously...
I’m not SURE a US ship was not present / did not try to defend, but, I’d think it’d be big news if we tried to intercept and failed.
Also note that the Rubymar may well have survived (but with more likely casualties) if the missile had hit higher in the rear of the ship, or, it may have been obliterated in a second or less if the missile had hit a cargo hold of fertilizer. (It appears the actual load was 22,000 tons of ammonium nitrate fertilizer. Probably equal to a several kiloton tactical nuke!)
In fact, the missile was a near miss, but damaged the hull under the waterline via pressure wave.
Seems a lot more like luck or chance than more skill.
This all does illustrate the near impossibility of missile defense in such a large area by only 3* AD destroyers when the launchers can be relatively close.
*We have 4 destroyers in the area, buy at any given time there’s a very good chance one is making a supply run, etc. SFAIK we don’t try reloading missile tubes while at sea. (?)
I’d also point out WE are learning a lot — this from the actual people we have in the area doing the defending. It seems a lot of the unsuccessful attacks go un-noticed in most US news — heck, we have a pilot flying a Harrier off the Bataan who downed SEVEN drones B4 the Bataan was sent back to the Med.
That said, we are extremely thin-spread in the area to be trying to do this sort of defense for any more than our own commercial ships, which are small in number. I don’t think we really are trying to cover “everybody”, but we render aid (and defense) to any friendly or neutral in distress, of course. Hell, we’d probably aid a Chinese ship in trouble, not that those a-holes have been doing that for anyone else...
