Protestia noted, “Additionally, if an active shooting situation took place, and the shooter was killed or injured by the church security team, the proposed law would make members of the security team subject to criminal penalties that range from 5 years to life in prison.” The applicable text of the bill says, “In the case of a violation that results in…bodily injury, the person shall be fined under this title, imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both; or death, the person shall be fined under this title and imprisoned for any term of years or for life.”
So that crazy transgendered person should have been allowed to shoot up that church in Texas last week

I have an idea, how about we make it illegal for congress to have armed security. See how that works Ed?

However, this paragraph is among the exceptions defining who is NOT considered as going against the proposed law:
“(4) [italics and bold are mine] members of an organization that is authorized under Federal or State law to provide paramilitary, law enforcement, or security services training or to engage in paramilitary activity, law enforcement, or security services when performing the functions authorized by law and, in the case of paramilitary activity and law enforcement functions, when under the direction and control of a governmental authority.

We don’t have an armed “security” team at our church, but we do have a “safety” team and quite a few members who are packing.

I am Jewish and live in southern Texas. Even before October 7, I wouldn’t go to synagogue without being armed - and afterwards, I utterly refuse to place my life or those of my family at risk by not being armed. I am also part of a group there that is always armed and which trains. NONE of us will comply with this unconstitutional bill, should it become law. I will not be a sheep led to the slaughter, I REFUSE!
Markey and all who support this anti-liberty abomination can go to Hell. Are they going to guarantee our lives? No…then F them!

My SBC church pays an armed sheriff’s deputy to sit in our parking lot during services in a police car........but if anything got past him or her there would be return fire inside the sanctuary.
