Not only that, students learn that BAD behavior is rewarded.

It is rewarded with a virtually personal teacher for simply acting up in class.

These 'teachers' don't know the curriculum so become students as well - a bitch for Math/Science teachers.

The bright students suffer.

He responded, “You think I want him back on my streets!”.

Yep, a major function of public education is to ‘keep kids off the streets’. It is one reason why the drop-out age is being raised. If thugs are in school for six hours or so a day, they are no longer the rest of the town’s problem. Of course they then become the teachers’ and the non-thug students’ problems.

Me too. When I had about 10 years to go before retirement, I moved from chemistry to physics, just for the variety (I have a degree in both).

Lucky that I did. My idiotic school district eliminated the math requirement for those classes. So it became come one, come all. And that included the special ed kids.

That was bad enough in physics. But in the chemistry classes those kids would throw chemicals around. It got so bad (and dangerous) that many chemistry teachers stopped doing labs.

So as usual, the good kids had to pay. No lab experience for them.

When my state mandated an additional science class they didn't choose Physics, they chose Chemistry - same result.

I sure miss teaching the smart kids...
