Violent incidents rose by 21% from 2022 to 2023 with robberies and burglaries jumping 38% and 23%... One suspects that the actual number of violent crimes is much higher than the reported figure.
More than one retired LEO has told me that under-reporting of violent (actually all) crime is well-known in many blue states and blue state cities. It might be instructive if a former Oakland PD officer would comment on this dynamic.
