My past readings of the fall of Rome included the following ideas.
It is not a surprise that Rome fell. What was a surprise is the empire lasted so long out of one city in Italy.
I believe when the Romans split the empire they were also paying tribes to serve as Roman legions or defense troops. And they paid them to do so. They could no longer sustain a large empire with just native Roman and Italian legions.
It may have been Attila who realized if Rome could pay them, why not take over Rome and just have all the wealth instead of some tribute.
I always smile when people say immorality led to the fall of Rome. Wasn’t a Christian Rome more moral than the pagan Rome?

Disney would never do it but I think it could be a plot point in “Toy Story 5.”
