Good for Abbott in not backing down. The risk of arrest rather than a debit card, hotel room, and free medical care may just cause a handful of illegal aliens to stay in Mexico rather than continue their trip northward.
Mainstream media is not reporting much on the issue which tells me they know that most people support Abbott's actions.

Crossing into America is a Federal problem. Once they hit Texas it is a Texas problem. And Texas is doing what they are supposed to do. Arrest, fingerprint and send them back to their home countries. All that is left is to send Biden the bill.
