“NYT: Soaring Costs Under Biden Are Only ‘More Expensive on Paper”
Shameless. The country is in flames but for the deluded children at the NYT all that matters is the rats staying in power.
New York Times economic reporter Jeanna Smialek is a retard to believe that anyone does not think she’s a worthless political hack and a retard
“Dad would drive twelve miles round trip to Belvue, KS from Wamego to fill up the car because it was more economical than to buy gas in town. Damn, does that date me or what? “
Pre-1973 oil shock was a different world.
True dat. Today taking a c note to market to buy what I bought with a fifty a few years ago.
“So, who’re you gonna believe: me, or your lying eyes?”
Pay no attention to that little man behind the curtain.
If the price of their ink and paper goes up, they’ll notice that...
It is less than $10 here, the land that time forgot lofl!. S--- it, Kalifornia!
Jeanna Smialek is both narcissistic and ignorant. Prices are still too high.
“I pumped gas in 1977 and it was not $0.22. It was about 3x that much, around $0.65 per gallon.”
When I graduated in 1972 there was a little service station that was cheaper than any in the south side of OKC. I remember the price was 25 cent a gallon. I still check with friends my age to confirm my memory but that’s about right.
“Our county taxes went way up this year. They wanted more (double) but were voted down and they did this right after the hurricane and claimed it was for “emergency services” due to the hurricane but it would remain permanent hereafter.”
Anyone remember when turnpikes were put in place they claimed the tolls would be temporary till the turnpike was paid for then the tolls would end. In Oklahoma at least no turnpike ever was paid for. Upkeep that was needed kept the tolls rolling. Much like any road or highway and the taxes that are always going up to maintain them.
Oldest Government scam in the books, the lying pols that made the promises, long gone. When was the NYS Thruway supposed to be free? Thruway tolls were supposed to disappear by 1996 under a deal with federal officials engineered by U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan in 1982, but that never happened. https://www.nytimes.com/1982/07/20/nyregion/thruway-s-tolls-to-end-in-96-with-federal-aid.html
Yes. The paper receipt at the grocery store, gas station, electric bill, nat gas bill, etc.
“On paper” - what paper? Cash is paper. Everything costs more. Credit card receipts are on paper. Everything costs more. Monthly c/c reports are online, though, so I guess inflation doesn’t affect me. Thanks, NYT!
I had to leave that because of the Biden economy.
Since then I've worked a string of jobs, treading water, trying hard not to drown. I'm currently working at a supermarket deli.
I used to bring my dog some freshly cut cheese from the deli, every day after work. But now I can't afford to do that much.
Meanwhile I see the prices keep going up in our store. We are not alone in that.
How big of a batch? Sounds an interesting concept. Thanks!
New York Times economic reporter Jeanna Smialek needs to go back to school.
