3 Albie. My father-in-law was also at Schofield Barracks that morning. Fought with the 75th JASCO, Signal Corps thru Iwo Jima where he got his third Purple Heart. Saw the raising of the flag on Mt. Surabaci from the field hospital next to the 5th? Marines cemetery.

Somewhere I have both a photo of the flag and the cemetery.

They were the Greatest Generation and we must honor them for their sacrifices to the end.

“ My father-in-law was also at Schofield Barracks that morning”

…interesting. They may have known each other. My Dad was a very friendly and sociable guy
