I watched about an hour of that testimony and was surprised that all of them appeared to be out of their element as university presidents. When you think of people in such positions you picture well experienced, wise, articulate persons, possessing and exhibiting good judgement and prudence.

These persons appeared to be shallow ideologues, poorly prepared and out of their league as distinguished university presidents. Have we reached the bottom of the pit in both government and education leadership????

How are selections of university presidents made?? Trustees? Peers? Who?? In these cases they did a lousy job!

I wonder how the trio of female SJW Posion Ivy League Presidents would have answered if they were asked what their school policy was if mass student protests on their campuses were misgendering Jews?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Spot on. I suspect these ladies are little more than figureheads to present a facade of diversity, with the real decisions and policy made there by more entrenched bureaucrats.

UPenn started received millions from Communist China in donations right
after Penn established The Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in DC.
U of Penn could not explain the sudden millions in Chinese donations.

As investigations threatened, PBS-TV reported UPenn up and gave....unannounced and unasked.....some $100 million dollars to local schools.

The Biden Center was also being investigated for unexplained Chinese donations.

Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the chair of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, is zeroing in on the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., as part of the panel’s investigation into classified documents discovered in Biden’s former office at the Center.

Comer laid out the requests in a letter to U of Penn President Mary Elizabeth Magill, asking that all materials be handed over by Feb. 1. Comer is specifically interested in learning about
<><>who had access to the Penn Biden Center,
<><>a visitors’ log of those who met with Biden at the think tank,
<><>the scope of security at the facility to protect classified documents
<><>any Chinese-linked donations to the Biden Center that may link to classified documents.

elise should have asked this question-

would the call for the genocide of blacks be in violation of college code of conduct?

would the call for the genocide of gays be in violation of college code of conduct?

let them say it depends on the context

Yes, excellent point, and a tactic to remember.

See if their demonic lunacy applies to their own pet demographics.

I agree. The "apology" video from the formerly smirking UPenn president looked like a hostage reading off a script, instead of her genuine statement at the House hearing.

Any administrator at a college or a business knows about the federal laws and regulations about hostile environments in workplaces and schools. For UPenn's president to pretend she was just thinking about the first amendment and not the law that her entire HR and student relations departments are devoted to is just nonsense.

Every college has a student handbook and orientation classes devoted to harassment, speech policies, etc. None of them have handbooks, training, or courses that say "the first amendment rules, you can say anything you want".

Probably she and her fellow dunces thought admitting that calls for genocide against Jews would weaken their defenses against lawsuits from Jewish students. In reality she just dug a deeper hole.

You are correct. But I was just taken by their overall demeanor and behavior. I’m in my mid-90’s now and although not an academic type have had interaction throughout my earlier life with university administrators and scholars in business and social settings. I had great respect for them. I don’t believe those three would have fit in well with those whom I knew. And if they represent current university leadership of the day then our university system needs a major overhaul.

As someone else stated, the feedback from alumni and donors must have been so overwhelmingly negative that she’s backtracking as far and as fast as possible.

Make no mistake. This is a struggle within the Democratic Party, and the (younger more dynamic) Jew haters are winning.

[How are selections of university presidents made??]

I always thought they were political appointments to reward the well connected.

Pennsy Gov calls for resignation of U of Penn president
Accusations of college antisemitism went from bad to worse with one House hearing

yahoonews.com, Lexi Lonas, Thu, December 7, 2023

College leaders seeking to fend off accusations of failing to protect their students from rising antisemitism have instead shot themselves in the foot.

For weeks the presidents of Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) were drowning in criticism of not taking the problem seriously enough after Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and a House hearing this week put them further into treacherous water.

The opportunity for the presidents to make the public feel confident in their steps has turned into calls for their resignation after all three tried to sidestep a question on if a call for the genocide of Jewish people would be considered harassment.

That blow came towards the end of the four-hour House Education Committee hearing, when Rep. Elise Stefanik (N.Y.) got an opportunity to question all three presidents for the sixth time, after other Republicans yielded her their time.

Harvard President Claudine Gay said such a genocidal call could violate the school’s policies “depending on the context.” Sally Kornbluth, the head of MIT, said the calls would need to be “pervasive” and would warrant an investigation.

Penn board of trustees convenes after school president’s House comments

Penn President Liz Magill got into a longer back-and-forth with Stefanik on the issue, with it ultimately coming to a head when Magill testified: “If the speech becomes conduct, it can be harassment.”

“Conduct meaning committing the act of genocide?” Stefanik retorted.

The pushback was swift and strong, with the White House calling it “unbelievable that this needs to be said: Calls for genocide are monstrous and antithetical to everything we represent as a country.”

On Thursday, Education Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) announced “a formal investigation into the learning environments at Harvard, UPenn, and MIT and their policies and disciplinary procedures.”

“The testimony we received earlier this week from Presidents Gay, Magill, and Kornbluth about the responses of Harvard, UPenn, and MIT to the rampant antisemitism displayed on their campuses by students and faculty was absolutely unacceptable,” Foxx said.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) called on Penn’s board of directors to convene “soon” to have a “serious discussion” on if Magill’s comments represent the “values” of the university.

“That was an unacceptable statement from the president of Penn,” Shapiro said. “Frankly, I thought her comments were absolutely shameful. It should not be hard to condemn genocide.”

as far as I know, none of the congresscritters asked the unanswerable questions as a follow-up:

Please define under what “context” the anti-Semetic statements about genocide would be acceptable.?? What is that context?
