Because Amazon uses the USPS to deliver its packages that it cannot do profitably. Let the taxpayer bear the burden, not Amazon.
FedEx and UPS have not relied on the USPS's transformation to deliver stuff to hard-to-rech locations.
(IMHO)

They really had no choice but to come up with their own shipping infrastructure to get the job done. The commercial carriers have gone increasingly flaky and unreliable, accelerated by the covid communism from 2020 forward.

The further away you are from an Amazon shipping hub, the longer the delivery time and the more likely it will be sent by regular commercial carriers. Right now I'm sandwiched by two large hubs, one north one south, with what appears to be a third massive huge one being built at nearly point blank range to me. Right now with some orders I can get next day service. That big one opens up, it's liable to be
same day service.

What more can they do? For me at least they give a 2 hour window and starting at 10 stops away have a GPS map with with the truck on it and how many stops there are until it gets here.
It’s frankly amazing how well it runs.

#9 I am returning an item to Staples.
The message I received is:
“We will be sending a driver to collect your items. The driver will arrive soon as the next business day from when you placed your return or up to 5 business days”
Yep, whenever.
I will wait patiently by the door.....

Amazon won’t even pick up “free returns” merchandise .. not even from the very porch they delivered it to
they make you get a ride down to a UPS store
very very very very very very very inconvenient ... even impossible for some customers...
