>>>Is that allowed here?

Yes, particularly to those who don’t understand the insult to the one and only Moon Idol (cresent moon & star).

The article doesn’t say Muslim seminary. Why?

Because it is written by a Indian newspaper for an audience that would have fully understood what the institution is.

But, it does seem odd that it did not reference it as neighboring country.

WHO ARE WE?

The Pioneer group, owned and led by our editor-in-chief Dr Chandan Mitra (CMYK Printech Limited), has inherited a rich tradition of journalism and is carrying on the same pursuit of excellence for today’s times. The Pioneer is one of the oldest national papers in the country, a heritage that we are proud to have been entrusted with and one we are synchronising with modern readership. At a time when information and knowledge are a flood on digital platforms, The Pioneer stands apart, offering views rather than news, generating diverse opinions, encouraging analysis, making sense of the noise and fostering independent thoughts and implementable solutions for the great Indian conundrum.

The newspaper (which now has eight English editions and four Hindi editions)

HISTORY

The Pioneer was founded in Allahabad in 1865 by George Allen, an Englishman who ran a tea business but whose sharp mind ensured the newspaper exercised great influence in British India. Not only that, Sir Winston Churchill was The Pioneer’s war correspondent while author Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936), in his early 20s, worked at the newspaper office in Allahabad as an assistant editor from November 1887 to March 1889. The newspaper remained a primarily Lucknow-based paper until 1990, when it was purchased by the Thapar Group, under L. M. Thapar, who made it a national newspaper. Mr Mitra carried on the baton, not just fanning out into the heart of India but also to the east and coast. His two terms in the Rajya Sabha helped him develop an insight for a macro-oriented view of India and its place in contemporary dialogue.

Not exactly.

Islamic culture can be one of generosity and hospitality. Pederasty is not a tenet of Islam and is even forbidden. But it is common in Afghanistan.

It’s like Christianity in not being monocultural. How would you describe Christian culture? Certainly, it is not one of pederasty. But that does exist in churches and schools of various Christian denominations.

So, when I pointed out the connection between the Afghanistan culture and 9/11, I was being specific. There is a connection between sexual perversion and violence. Sexual perversion desensitizes people to the suffering of others and makes those who engage in it capable of doing heinous acts.

While I reject the concept of jihad as spreading religion by the sword, what we’ve seen coming from some subcultures within Islamic states is the desire for mayhem and destruction that has nothing to do with furthering a religious cause. While jihad itself is bad enough, it is not interpreted by most Muslims as an excuse for terrorism, suicide bombings, rape, torture, or murder.

I’ll add one other thing. Afghanistan has a population of over 40 million. I would not consider pederasty to be a characteristic of the entire population.

But it has a foothold in the Taliban, who are in charge there. It may come as a surprise that the Taliban rose to power due to general outrage over this problem being common among politicians and police. The Taliban put a stop to the practice when they first came to power. Pederasty went underground for a while, but over time this culture infiltrated the Taliban as well.

I do not believe it is common in Arabic-speaking Islamic cultures.
