I think more important than the question of whether to spend money on this or that - is the question of whether the spending bills will be separated, so that a representative can vote for or against specific things according to the wishes of his constituents, without having to support all sorts of other things lumped into the same bill.

This is the whole reason Matt Gaetz led the rebellion against McCarthy. McCarthy far had promised to support a rules change to end the practice of omnibus spending bills, and reinstate single issue spending bills. McCarthy broke that promise.

The omnibus spending bills always work to the advantage of the big spenders and the lobbyists that own them, because they allow representatives to hold one issue hostage to another, making them unaccountable to their constituents.

So, I’ll be more interested to see what Johnson does about the rules changes, than whether he voices support for this or that.

Excellent analysis.

Thanks for sharing

Whatever happens going forward, I do agree with you that Johnson will probably hold members accountable for their votes.

Plus, we all should congratulate and thank Matt Gaetz for having the courage to vacate the chair.

McCarthy needed to go.

Now, if only the GOP could do something about the Turtle in the Upper Chamber—at least by the time PDJT returns to the White House.

Vance has proven to be one of the few bright spots in the Senate.

Got you fooled. I'll just mention the East Palestine rail disaster. Our District 6 Rep Bill Johnson has been working on getting East Palestine put back together every week since it happened. Vance showed up for a photo-op, made an inane comment or two for the cameras, and we haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. Senator for Silicon Valley is what he is. Owned by Peter Thiel, lock, stock and barrel.
