Who’s counting their chickens? I simply reminded you of what you said just a few days ago.

“Maybe one day people supporting him and Trump will wake up and realize all this tough talk and chaos is actually only making things worse.”

You had already determined that we were witnessing chaos and it’s only making things worse. That was in response to the following comment:

“This particular battle is still playing out. I wouldn’t be too quick to declare it a failure until we see the end result.”

So now you’re reassessing your original opinion, which is a good thing. That was my original point all along. BTW, I share your hope that we’re on the right track. We shall see.

Yes this story is far from over. It’s interesting that Gaetz voted for Emmer too, when he was nominated.

Members of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus were divided on Tuesday’s vote, with members like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., voting against Emmer and for Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, who lost his bid for speaker last week after three rounds of failed votes, and Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who lead the revolt against McCarthy, voting for Emmer on roll call.

Gaetz’s interview with Bannon was interesting. I recommend watching it if you haven’t already. I can only speculate as to why Gaetz would have voted for Emmer, but he talks about discussions he had with Emmer in the interview, and perhaps gives a clue as to why he voted for him.

I think he may have done so to show Emmer that he was willing to compromise and that it was McCarthy who was responsible for dragging things out, not him. The unfolding of events that followed made that all too clear to the rest of the conference - showing that McCarthy was actually sabotaging the process. Once McCarthy’s double dealing was exposed, the conference rallied around Johnson and ended up voting for him unanimously.
