I think you could be right, I think in the case of EMP, it would be Armageddon in 48-72 hours, because everything would stop immediately. If the power just went out and vehicles still ran, people could get home, food could be delivered for a short period of time, until the gas and diesel ran out.
Why attack the big cities in blue states? The streets are already owned by the thugs who are executing a race war against Americans. I believe they would go after red state medium to large cities in strategic locations, the big cities would automatically fall into anarchy.
