Well, yeah... but that all just means that the 9-year low is even more significant. It’s down more than 60 percent!

I believe that Disney's descent into madness began when they decided to fire their entire legacy IT staff and force them to train their H-1B replacements or lose their severance benefits.

Since IT is such an important aspect of running Disney parks and making Disney movies, Disney lost their core values when they let their longtime IT workers go. The replacement staff replaced their value system, too, and Disney is suffering for it now.

I’d almost forgotten about that, but you are right. They fired the people who had been there for years and knew the history of the company. From what I understand from someone who worked there at that time, the employees were like one big family. They were long-timed members of the community and dedicated to the Disney “family” brand. The current employees are dedicated to a “brand” as well, but it is anti-family and anti-children.

I believe one of the Disney Indian “leaders” is now behind the hacking fiasco at MGM.

I was at Disney during June. I asked one of the employees at my hotel why crowds were down in June. Her answer:

1 - liberals are pissed off at DeSantis
2 - conservatives won’t bring their children here during pride month
3 - they’ve raised prices to a point that keeps visitors away

Take your pick.

I honestly do not remember. As I stated it was eighteen years ago. My son is 25 now.

I THINK the park tickets for two adults and a child for four days was over $700.

I remember the hotel was only $64/night. It was the Dolphin which was a Sheraton hotel. It is part of the Marriott Corp now. That and the Swan were the only NON Disney owned hotels in Disney World back then. We got the employee rate at the hotel because a brother of a buddy was a manager there.

Old story. I grew up in Anaheim, CA. We could see the Disneyland fireworks..from our house.

Family from out of town....always came to our house...and ALWAYS wanted to go to D-Land...my sister and I hated it!! Ha!! We had been there so many times....it was a joke to us.

This is something I’ve been watching with glee. Let it crash and burn, maybe then they’ll learn their lesson and leave societal and political issues out of their products.

For the beginning of November, prior to the Thanksgiving rush, Expedia lists the Dolphin at over $900 per night.

I can’t give you a room cost, since my last trip was based on DVC points & doesn’t have a dollar cost.

I can tell you my discounted DVC pass renewal is around $800. Ticket pricing was around $150 per day for the Magic Kingdom. Add $25 to park.

Figure $15 to $20 for a hot dog, fries, & drink at lunch. $30 for dinner, excluding alcohol.

Who knew constantly insulting your core customers, spitting on their values and trying to corrupt their kids would be bad for business?

Bob,

As I previously stated this was EIGHTEEN years ago.
At the time I think the Dolphin was in the $250/night range. We got the Starwood employee rate at the time.
We went from the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. Left the Friday after. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the park is empty.

There are books/websites now that show when the best/worst time to go are.

The reason the economics are successful is because they are not boycotts. People insist on calling them boycotts because they don’t know what a boycott is and the current phenomenon looks a lot like a boycott in that it is accomplishing what a boycott wants to do. A boycott is a coordinated effort to force a company to change its behavior based on the possibility that sales will suffer. Boycotts do not work because people inevitably will go to Target or WalMart ot will continue to buy the product because they need them more than they care about boycotting them.

Risney, Target and Bud Light are not being boycotted, they are being rejected. People will not simply start drinking Bud Light when Anheuser Busch admits they screwed up. They have been rejected. I am not drinking bud or bud light and it is too late for them nothing they can do even giving it away will get those customers back. Disney has peed in the bath water so much that nobody wants to get back in the tub. A boycott would be people getting back in the tub if they will just filter the water.

Most of the men at Disney World Florida are gay…my daughter did an internship there and could not get a date very often….

News headline this morning said Disney is cutting admission costs for children.

Yeah, I don't think that will work anymore. I saw a photo of a bearded, overweight MAN, in a Disney-style dress, greeting a child. My mind was blown. I have been reading about this stuff; but, seeing it is a revelation. The confused look on the child's face really said it all. (Kind of like the look on every little girl's face that PedoJoe is interacting with.)

My daughters are grown adults; but, I would not be a Disney fan if I still had little girls.

My husband says something similar. He puts it that it is not a boycott, it is an abandonment.
