Apparently a lot of Pubbies in The House agreed with Gaetz. So take that Newt!

Anyone that uses the Wapo for op-ed isn’t to be trusted. Wapo is run by the enemy. I don’t trust Newt. He may yet have a part to play in this, for good or I’ll I cannot tell.

This kind of childish silliness is what makes people think Republicans can’t handle leading.

i knew for sure long before this that 'republicans cant handle leading'.

I have not been happy with some of what McCarthy has been doing or I should say NOT doing, but the more I hear of Matt...I wonder. Mark Levin talked about it today on Truth Social.

The problem here is the enormous inertia that prevents a Republican congress from ever effectively accomplishing anything, and that inertia is caused by the “normalcy bias” (the small-minded, short-sighted belief that everything is just fine, even when it is not) and by the influence and outright corruption generated by the large, monied donor class. The do-nothings that booed Gaetz today all suffer from the normalcy bias, and many of them are compromised by financial conflicts of interest (by the cheap labor express, China interests, etc.).

What this debate made me think of today was what would have happened if a post 9/11/2001 time traveler had been able to travel back in time and warn the congress of 9/10/2001 about what was coming in less than 24 hours. Undoubtedly, the reactions would have been guffaws and arrogant dismissal of the warning, because such small minds who are also completely preoccupied with their own personal financial and political interests just can’t see the big picture. Today is no different. The country is on the edge of the financial cliff, with a monstrous debt spiraling out of control (accelerated by this same congress’ refusal earlier in the year to cap the debt), yet rather than admit the lateness of the hour and take action these willfully blind mice just ridicule and dismiss the few willing to tell the truth and issue a call to action.

They’re going to have to find out the hard way when the interest payments on the debt eat every dollar available to fund their pork barrel projects, or when (more likely) the contemptible fed just prints more money to cover the spiraling debt, causing the dollars in the average person’s pocket to become virtually worthless. These fools can’t or won’t see that drastic cuts to the entire federal budget are necessary NOW if we are to have any chance of pulling back from the financial brink. You can’t take in five trillion per year and spend seven trillion without very bad things happening. But never mind, Gaetz is the villain and needs to just pipe down so they can “get back to doing the business of the people.” Yeah, right.

They actually hate conservatives and treat them like the red headed stepchildren. They hated Goldwater and still do.

The GOPe isn’t going to surrender to the conservatives as long as they can help it.

That is one reason I hate political parties. It is all about the party and really nothing to do with representing the people. That is a big myth.

Seems it is just lately that people can begin to see through the facade.

Thank you for giving me your view of this situation. I am beyond confused right now as I have people I admire ( Trump, Jim Jordan) on both sides of this issue.

I am personally getting tired of " business as usual" and feared that we were going to need to stand firm... but whether or not this is the time and right way.... I'm not sure.

I am reading and listening....and praying MUCH!!

Exactly.... Reagan was an aberration....Ditto Trump. No standard-issue Republican thought either had a chance early on....

Exactly right, we run around like high school girls with a grudge against frenemies-while Dems focus on getting their policies and winning. What is McHenry, first priority, firs thing he did ? Border, Budget?? NO ordering Nancy Pelosis out of her office-while she is at a funeral-and we lose. Geez, childish
