Kavanaugh has been intimidated after the abortion decision last year along with the rest the worst of the Character Assassination Nuclear Level Character Assassination directed at Alito and Thomas.
THE supremes are endorsing government sponsored and approved racism.
Actually, this one is built into the Constitution. One of hte Civil War amendments.
No, it means that we have to reclaim our voters !
Since they didn’t ask who was a citizen and who wasn’t, how can they figure that out?
In a theoretical world ... let’s assume congressional lines were based on pure geography and blacks lived equally mixed among the districts. In this theoretical model blacks as a group would get elected no more or less than whites. It is impossible to pick a number of seats blacks should have as it would depend on the quality of candidates at any given point in time.
What the SC is implying is that segregation is expected behavior. They are also implying that people are racists and will vote purely based on color. Therefore they desire gerrymandering to get some desired end result.
What is not being said speaks volumes.
how the hell is it constitutional for ANY group to be guaranteed a representative of their own?
If this is constitutional, then California should be required to redraw its districts so that Republicans are guaranteed 40% of the seats!
Nope. I’m a native Alabamian- Huntsville area (northern Alabama). The black population of Alabama is 26% + or -. The 12.4% figure you mentioned is their percentage of the whole population of the United States of America collectively. With just the state of Alabama, they make up 26%. It’s usually a good measure in the deep south that blacks, on average, make up at least a quarter to a third of state populations in the region. I believe Mississippi, Louisiana & Georgia’s black populations are even larger percentages of those states.
Having said all of that, I think this ruling is appalling. It’s particularly absurd if you believe ghat race-based laws are unconstitutional or inherently inappropriate. The U.S. & state & local government should be concerned with only two statistics: what percentage of our population are legal American citizens (born on American soil to legal American citizens; and naturalized immigrant citizens who legally immigrated, passed all tests, followed all procedures & finally swore an oath of loyalty to this nation). Those that fall into those categories are entitled to be here; everybody else needs to get the hell out, shouldn’t be 4eceiving anything from government, shouldn’t be working an American job, living in an American home, driving a car with an American license & sure as fire shouldn’t be voting in any American federal, state or local election! 😉
“Conservative” court.
5 will be lost in ny very soon also
I thought the Supreme Court was supposed to stay OUT of the redistricting business???? Or, is that only when it benefits Democrats???
One by one, the Political Left is destroying the razor thin GOP majority in the House of Representatives.
If they’re smart. they’ll pass a map with NO black majorities. Then make the lefties fight it out in court for the next year. Meanwhile ignoring the court’s opinion. I can’t find a single place in the constitution where the states agreed to let the federal judiciary have this power.
Re: Alabama is 12.4% black
Actually, 26.8% are Black.

“It’s not absurd for there to be 2 black majority House seats.
It’s also not absurd for there to be 1. Either ruling would be fair”
Apportioning congressional districts by race is morally wrong, unconstitutional, and defies common sense. It’s so sad to see people brainwashed so thoroughly that they buy this crap. Sad.
"The decision was in line with the Supreme Court ruling against the state in June that reaffirmed a key provision of the landmark Voting Rights Act."
"Two conservatives - Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh - joined the three liberal justices in the majority in the Supreme Court ruling in June."
Don’t capitalize black.
Otherwise, it's up to the State of Alabama to determine if they want to have one, two or three districts. That is a political issue so the SCOTUS needs to stay away from it unless it's BLATANTA discrimination.
