Good ideas.
No air conditioning.
Minimal heat in 10 degree winter to keep pipes from freezing. Coats on during the walk to the outhouse portatoilets in back.
Tofu pieces and kale salad instead of hamburgers or hot dogs.
The school should just Mandate that all Students that show up to class with any product produced or distributed using any petroleum product are FAILED and given detention.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
I'll bet it's not a student led effort in spite of the media attempts to portray it as such.
What climate crisis? Dust bowl of the 1930s? Warmup between the two ice ages?
The “Green New Deal” should start with these youngsters self banning themselves from using electronic devices for all but 2 hours per day.
With 1 hour per day earned by doing 1 hour per day of community service - cleaning up needles, poop, trash, from their local communities.
The teacher's union, of course.
Yep another 60’s hippy movement with a new name.
A lot of them ended up in D.C. and look how that turned out
1. Turn off electricity.
2. Turn off furnace if in use.
3. They can only eat food they grow.
4. No hunting since guns have a carbon footprint.
5. Can only wear clothes they grow, harvest, process than hand make.
6. Can only walk to wherever they want to go.
In a rush to change the world while they still know everything

“Student organizers at 50 different high schools across the country are banding together to launch the “Green New Deal for Schools Campaign.””
.
Really?
“Student” organizers.
.
“The Sunrise Movement says they had a multi-week summer training camp to teach hundreds of high schoolers how to organize, run campaigns in schools and protest.”
.
So, the “students” at 50 different high schools across the country just happened to create a summer camp (propaganda training) that can transport and hold hundreds of the oh-so-concerned students, feed them and house them?
It is remarkable how all this was done across the United States because of “student” concerns.
So what about adult supervision?
Parents?
Anyone?
.
They should take all objects and services away from these fools. Once their cell phones, glasses, medicines, clothes, electric, etc. maybe they’ll change their minds as they freeze and starve.
When I was in grade school, we had to go to school after a snowstorm. In Houston. 20F high for the day. We were in a wooden temporary building with no heat. We spent the whole day in coats, hats and gloves. 1972.
These little brats wouldn’t last 5 minutes in those conditions.
Well, what would look like a climate crisis to some would be called challenging, but changing weather to others; something we learn to cope with since we can’t really change it anyway. As far as a safe & high quality education.....that is achievable if someone is seriously interested in doing so, but those who run the schools must initiate this.
The teacher's union, of course.
And that ultimately means the communist party.
