Why are we on defense? And the Democrats are off the hook? No.

Having a “boy-friend”

Playing with a “boy-friend”

Wanting a “boy-friend”

If “captive silly women, laden with sins” are sleeping around behind closed doors talking/giving sensitive information it is our business.

.. and sleeping with the enemy...
Beyond, way beyond the out “inappropriate behavior” and “misspoke” outs they like to use.

Compromised. No sale.
Zero trust

This is what happens when the trailer trash part of the electorate on the right temporarily gets control of a political party- they elect a 36 YEAR OLD DIVORCEE GRANDMOTHER with a low IQ, no morals, a foul mouth & no shame. I am so embarrassed & tired of crap like this. I don’t expect people to be perfect, but I do demand, at a minimum, they not act like a rebellious, unhinged 18 year old. I’m really sick of reading the excuses being made. The same people that might share their thoughts on how terrible things are right now, are the exact ones making excuses about this. Standards are declining and every day we move closer to collapse because of people like this & people like yall. Could yall please just hitch your trailer homes together & get lost? πŸ™„πŸ˜πŸ˜΅πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ₯±

Who all are the “trailer trash” part of the electorate?

Just asking you who that is other than Ms Boebert in your estimation.

It goes without saying that a topic like this is nowhere near the importance of the serious issues discussed on FR. That doesnt mean, however, that it idnt a sign of the bigger problem we face. Freedom and the republic are threatened because people with ideologies that actively undermine things are elected to office. The people who elect them do so because they share they espouse a lower value system. The voters value sysstem has changed because more people have lowered their standards. People have lowered their standards because they haven’t been taught to uphold standards & morals. When morals aren’t taught, culture will decline. When culture declines, you no longer have a population that values freedom or the Constitution. When you don’t have that you endup where we are- on the edge of collapse & ruled over by atheistic totalitarian elites that consolidate power and steal freedoms.

You cant have a free society without a strong moral code. The two are linked in a really important way. Thats wh it always seemed stupid to listen to peple who desire free markets & limited government without moral judgements and a code of right and wrong. Moral codes, strong families and marriages are what creates snd nurtures the person who supports and advocates free markets. Without the moral half of the equation, there arent enough freedom voters produced.

Also, she could be a fighter on legislation in Congress AND not behave like a trashy slut in public. The two aren’t mutually exclusive, are they? πŸ€”

They aren’t mutually exclusive but they also aren’t mutually necessary.

There once were people who thought George Patton’s cursing was a big problem. Ike was more interested in Patton’s ability to destroy the German army.

If we extend this Serious Moral Crisis to nominating candidates then prissy Mike Pence or prissy Mitt Romney ought to be the Republican nominee.

Oh for God sakes! Shes not Patton, this isnt WWII & im sure he made the calculation that we were talking about an entire military of adult men st that point. I doubt terribly seriously hed have made the same decision if the troops were out amongst women & children. That theater had quite a few kids. I’m not talking about pretending to be a vestal virgin or some holier than thou church lady prig, im merely talking about not groping one anothers private parts in public like a rented hooker, vaping indoors & blowing smoke at pregnant women. I’m also not talking about focusing on this over all the other crap happening, but sweet Lord can’t people admit how trashy this kind of behavior is. I’m sure if anybody was doing this around your kids or blowing smoke around your pregnant wife, that wouldn’t sit that well with. Just because she votes the way we like doesn’t mean that everything she does is OK. It’s a criticism of something that most of us wouldn’t like seeing this stuff in a teenager, in a grown woman it really grosses me out. Stop defending stupid behavior! πŸ˜‰

Maybe that is the problem im encountering amongst a lot of fellow right wingers right now. I havent been able to narrow it down to what the problem has been. Your post got me thinking though. I get why there was a reaction to the conservatism of the 20th century, because of the destruction of the middle class & Nafta & American jobs being shipped overseas or filled by immigrsnts willing to work for far less. Its understandable, there was a reaction against the elite of both parties. AEntire groups of people were left behind. So it had to change to represent this reality. America First really did great deal to address that.

I think the problem comes in the accompanying anti-jntellectualism. I admit, I came of age in the late 90’s. My parents were 20th century conservatives. They listened to Rush Limbaugh daily, my dad & I would always watch Firing Line with William F. Buckley. I remember just a little bit of President Reagan (I was in elementary school. They each seemed like titans of Conservative thought. There was such a high standard amongst Conservatives to live up to- keeping your marriage strong, disciplining your kids, following your faith, making sure to vote & do your civic duty. Most parents wouldnt let their kids leave the hose unless they looked decent & presentable. Somehow, looking back, I feel we were all the better for it. One of those traits was holding ourselves & friends and family to a high standard.

It feels like when we were updating conservatism in the last decade, that we attempted to throw a lot of the good stuff out with it. Expecting good public behavior may have been one of those things. I expect liberals to be wackos and celebrate gross stuff, what’s disappointing is reading so-called-conservatives defending Boeberts behavior. It’s funny, when liberals take on an anti-intellectual attitude it seems to wear better on them- maybe because they weren’t generally intellectual or contemplative- they were emotionally based. They just come off like dopey hippies. When conservative try donning the anti intellectual attitudes- they just seem downmarket, uncurious & full of excuses and justifications.

I hope we retain the America First principles but lose the tribal anti-intellectualism. I see a lot of people throwing around terms they seem to barely understand when they accuse fellow conservatives of being deep staters or establishment types because they don’t know how to engage in a conversation & win a principled argument. They seem much more motivated by an us v them, class warfare, end of civilization philosophy & it’s off-putting.

So I enjoy listening to Jordan Petersons and reading Victor David Hanson, etc., because they seem advocate both traditional & modern conservatism, uphold high standards, don’t make excuses & do it all with intellectual curiosity & humor πŸ˜‰

Of course she’s not Patton. What Boebert is is the rare GOP House member who fights.

Maybe if you weren’t busy dotting your i’s with little hearts in English class you’d have recognized an analogy.

The Church Lady Chorus is more interested in Boebert’s sex life than how she votes, which is par for the course. That’s what they’re spending their time focusing on.

Our political enemies will gladly accept the help of one more group of useful idiots, to borrow a phrase from von Mises. They understand power. They’ve elected an actual whore as VP and they never spend one minute worrying about it. What they do worry about is that she’s a complete idiot.

Those of us in the Buchanan wing recognized it for what it was as early as the GHW Bush presidency. Those policies came from the Republican establishment and their donors in the fraudulently name US Chamber of Commerce. The Bush GOP happily called it conservatism in order to gain votes.

The Bush gang snookered Rush Limbaugh into helping them sell this as “conservatism”. Rush wasn’t being disingenuous, he simply didn’t know that there was a difference. A great broadcaster, but not as knowledgeable as some think.

Rush was my age. We could vote in 1972 and I did. He didn’t vote until 1988, when he was 37. I am quite sure he wasn’t even paying attention. By that time I’d been active in politics for years and crossed paths with a whole lot of movers and shakers in conservative and Republican politics. I can assure you that many of them are far from pristine in their personal lives. Boebert is just clown enough to get caught in public but she’s not doing anything new.

Understand. I am not calling out Boebert. I realize shes a braw & lord knows thats a welcome development. The only thing the Bushes ever fought for were illegL immigrants & wars we didnt need to be involved in. I am voicing my irritation that she doesn’t behave a little smarter & not be a dummy in public spaces. I’m not saying this to Democrats, I am voicing it to other right wingers.

Listen, if you want to hold together a coalition & hopefully add to it, you have to at least mouth the words ‘I understand’ about an issue that isn’t necessarily on your radar- but is on the mind of many other conservatives. I personally grew up in a prosperous family & haven’t had to do a whole lot of struggling, but it became really apparent to me 12 or 13 years ago, once I married, that not everybody came from a wealthy suburb. I came to find out that there were a whole lot of people, from the conservative side, who felt left out & forgotten & left behind. They weren’t benefitting from the economy the elites created. I was always a social conservative & economic conservative & governing philosophy conservative, But after working on campaigns & meeting others, I started meeting America First conservative. It wasn’t necessarily on my radar, but I understood people’s concerns & decided it was worthy of adopting & advocating for those issues.

Amongst Conservatives, if we just adopt a very specific brand of conservatism alone, and don’t show concern for other conservatives, that coalition that we need in order to win elections, isn’t going to show up to vote on election day & our side will lose. So okay, it’s not a particularly big deal to you & you like the fighter in her. Okay, but it is important to the other half of us because we want the people who represent us to behave decently in public. Those standards set a tone for others & kids learn from it. Democrats have lowered standards everywhere. We think standards are important.

The best answer for everyone in this kind of situation is for conservatives like me to remember that it’s a goog thing fo Lauren to be a fighter fighter & give voice to those who haven’t had much of a voice in government policy & to not completely concentrate on things like this when they happen; But also for conservatives like you to admit that standards matter, public decency should be a given & not to make excuses or defend dumb behavior. Neither America First n I r traditional conservatism can win on their own. Some kind of peace needs to be reached πŸ˜‰

I somewhat remember Pat Buchanan(also his sister who advocated for him when he was running for office (I think hername was Bay). I remember how much crap he would take for his positions, not just from lefties. Some of the right would refer to him as a stone age conservative. I remember his pleas to reduce immigration & do away with Nafta. He was saying it long before ev we rybody else. They hated on him terribly! Buchanan was a precursor to Trump & America First. He was a good man!! πŸ˜‰

Good memory. Pat was basically running on what we now call MAGA, and he was doing it in 1992. He took a lot of crap from the same GOP crowd that targets Trump and for basically the same reasons.

You’ll find this 1996 essay by the late Sam Francis worth your time.

https://chroniclesmagazine.org/web/from-household-to-nation/

“I think her name was Bay”

Her name is Bay. She ran a US Senate campaign in 1986 that I volunteered on, and I don’t know that I ever met a more intense person in my life. Like she has Red Bull for blood.

Coalitions are indeed necessary to win elections. Not everyone understands this, but it’s essential or you simply won’t have the army of voters that you need to win. You do need to have common goals or your coalition falls apart, so you have to be tolerant of allies who may seem a bit odd.

You like intellectual reading, you might enjoy this site; it reminds me a bit of Russell Kirk’s “University Bookman”:

Okay, then. Or, perhaps, you could form the You, Me, and That Guy (and I Got My Doubts About You Two) Party , and just see how much success you have at the polls, and how many conservative policies you implement.

Bay wasn’t just Pat’s advocate, she was his media buyer, and got 10% of all taxpayer funded media expenditures he made while running for President. Or did I misremember that?
