My guns are just as secure behind walnut and etched glass. (Much more eye appealing) You’re gonna have to destroy the box to get inside.

And they just locked their Twitter after about 5k bashing tweets.
We trashed the electronic tumblers and went back to manual type. Switching back to manual tumblers was cheaper than the 14hrs it took the “professional locksmith” to break into our store safe. Hardened steel plates strategically placed foiled the pro’s best attempts for almost 2 days. The ratings for safe breakage have gone miserably in the toilet as of late. This 1952 model seems to be working pretty good since we removed all the gadgetry.
Didnt Apple/iPhone have backdoor password challenges to their phones. I remember them giving the FBI the stall on a case not unlike this one.
I have replaced several electronic locks with wheel tumbler locks. Most elec locks have the same footprint as the mechanical locks. The hole thru the safe door for the ribbon cable, the same place for combo the dial spindle.
Sgt and Greenleaf sell a kit that includes everything needed.
The dial spindle is about 14 inches long and must be cut to fit for the thickness of the safe door. Takes aout an hour to convert.
Better yet, if your safe is electronic, change the safe for a manual lock. Some brands can be retroactively fitted with manual, but no many, IIRC.
That’s one of the reasons I bought an old school combination safe.
Had a locksmith change it out.

You bought an old school combination safe and had a locksmith change it out. Why? I’m assuming the safe in the above article was electronic and the manufacturer had a “master key” combo.
How very binary of you. Black/White - either you must have complete privacy subject to neither the laws of man or God, or you’re a serf. Be better than that.
If someone is going to do something illegal and hide the evidence in a safe, then they deserve what they get.
For those that don’t wish to live under constitutional government - whatever.
The manufacturer has a record of the combination. I know because I called and asked.

My main concerns are rogue employees with your code and the obvious unequal application of the law. I also think that as a customer of electronic security devices, whether safes or encryption products there should be full disclosure from the company that they have backdoor and exactly what these company protocols they are talking about. As well as the option to delete any backdoor codes.
Imagine if this was Microsoft saying they gave the feds a backdoor to your system. They have ver strongly stated they don’t have backdoors, but you trust that?
I guess the tpm that windows 11 insists on is just a inconvenience at best
Looking at the somewhat limited documentation Liberty has online, there is a reset button on their electronic locks, that will reset the combo to the factory set combo - the one that they have registered to a particular safe.
The ‘back door’ code may be as simple as resetting to the factory setting, and then getting that via the warrant.
“And they just locked their Twitter after about 5k bashing tweets.”
I just bet they did. They could have fought against the warrant and made the issue public. Even if they eventually lost, their consumers would have appreciated their going to bat for the Fourth Amendment.
Their tweet is incredibly tone deaf. The marketing and pr people at these companies are so incompent it’s staggering. It’s like they are pouring sugar down your tank and going oh yeah, sorry about that when caught.
Gun people tend to be nervous of government overreach in general. I don’t make the fancy big bucks that I’m sure their Twitter team does so I’m not sure how I’d handle it better, except maybe handle this situation the exact opposite as they did. Their YouTube videos are also getting hammered too.
Always. Make the bastards work for it. I wouldn't be surprised if this company had a master code that overrides such things.
This is absolutely correct.
