They outa put the “supercharger” on the diesel generator. Then the wolds largest charging station might have over 100 bays.

"The news was first broken by investigative journalist Edward Niedermeyer. In May 2015"

Maybe this is the supercharger they are referring to.

“Niedermeyer told SFGATE in an email Friday that while he doesn’t have current information about the specifics of the Harris Ranch Supercharger,”

Eight years and no updates!

Article: “Hidden in plain sight across the way from the Harris Ranch Supercharger’s main stations, behind a Shell station, is a small diesel plant that has helped power Tesla’s footprint.”

Author has no evidence to support that this gas station backup power diesel powered any superchargers.

That would be me. Is all electricity generated by fossil fuels? Some of it?

All reliable, "on-demand" electricity that we use is based on fossil fuels (mostly), hydro-electric power or nuclear fission.

I am currently visiting CA and am totally amazed at the number of Teslas I have seen starting in San Francisco and continuing down Federal Hwy 101. It appears Tesla has replaced the Prius and Subaru as the vehicle one needs to flaunt one’s social conciousness. That or it’s a reaction to the horrendous gas prices in Newsom’s paradise.

Harris Ranch restaurant is really great.

The smell from the nearby feedlots always kills my appetite, and I head for another exit along the 5.

It’s a dirty secret that electric cars must be powered by hydrocarbons? I thought everyone knew that, just like to conveniently forget about it.

It’s called the land of fruits and nuts for a reason. I hope you can get out before California tumbles into the ocean.

Surprise! To power electric cars, one needs fossil fuels. Wow! Who would ever have guessed.

Man, people are simply stupid.

Interesting they would build a charging station like this basically in the middle of no where. Coalinga, except for the fact they are half way between SF and LA on I-5, they are also on the end of the 198 coming from the east through the central valley.

But with the new problem these stations are getting into it is truly in the middle of no where: people are getting pissed there is no one there to accept cash so they are breaking the card readers in spite and rendering them useless.

“They outa put the “supercharger” on the diesel generator. Then the wolds largest charging station might have over 100 bays.”

There was a drawing of a future Tesla charging station that had a roof over where the cars would get parked (think carport). The roof was covered with solar panels. I believe it was in Central California. I did the math - the most they could get out of those panels in single, sunny, day was enough to charge 1 or 2 cars. But Tesla said it was ‘solar powered’ - what they DID NOT SAY was that it was ‘exclusively solar powered’.

...big difference.

I’m glad to see the article mention’s Tesla’s massive lie which claimed that 100% of all electricity furnished through it’s supercharger network would be from renewable sources by the end of 2021.
