Imagining a hypothetical 2024 election with this fellow at the top of the ticket ... Indians, Americans of Asian descent in general, are an open season target for the (genuine, i.e. Democrat) racists in this country. They are resented for their success, which in large part proves the condition of the African American community is internally generated by a coddled dysfunctional culture, and not White oppression/suppression. They put lie to the mythology on which so many six and seven figure political, academic, and bureaucrat careers are based.

I don’t trust DeSantis at all. He’s using his opposition against woke issues to ingratiate himself with the base but this is just a smokescreen to obscure the fact that he’s entirely under the sway of the establishment on the “big issues”. One of the big issues to me is these never ending neocon wars so the only candidates I would even consider are Trump Kennedy and Ramaswamy. The rest are just lackeys of the establishment.

This subject of Natural Born citizenship comes up a lot on Free Republic.

Some Freepers say that both of your parents must have been a citizen at the time of your birth, for you to be a natural born citizen.

Other Freepers say that as long as you yourself were born in America that makes you a natural born citizen. Those Freepers argue that since such people are citizens without having to be naturalized, that means a they are natural born.

A thread the other day on this very subject had over 300 replies. People argued back and forth and presented evidence to support their point of view.

Some Freepers even said, why the heck are we even discussing this issue, because the courts are not going to stop any American born citizen from running for president.

There is no consensus on Free Republic as to what natural born citizenship means.

Good point. I’m just wondering why in any debate or questions asked of these NOT NBCs why they thought they could legally run for office when they weren’t NBCs. Not one of them was ever asked publicly. EVER!

Trying to turn a big negative - inexperience - into a positive. I watched a long interview of him yesterday and he’s a smart talker for sure.

But he said he wants back in TPP. BIG no no!

He’s the only one fighting the woke policies. He’s absolutely amazing. He started the whole going after degenerate behavior. Conservatives used to support that. But now that Vilek and trump are LGBT supporters, conservatives are too. Very strange.

It would be stupid for him to run 3rd party.

He’s only 38. If doesn’t win the nomination this time (and he probably won’t) he’ll be a front runner for the GOP nomination in 4 years—and he’ll only be 42.

A 3rd party run will ensure he’ll never be president. Be patient and remain a Republican and there’s a decent chance he will be president one day.

Another 4 years, the Democrats will continue to consolidate their power over our government. So we'll need to win in 2024, our candidate should be DeSantis or Ramaswamy.

Anyone who does not have the baggage of Donald Trump.

Ramy is alive and works. Where are the rest of these people? All they do is run is run ads saying, “Vote for me because I am better than Trump.”

It would be good, to see the debate moderators ask how he defines natural born citizenship.

It’s probably a non-issue to the news media, and thus, would be a non-issue to the debate moderators.

It would also open up inconvenient questions. For example, if any start asking questions about this, then it would focus on Obama and Kamala Harris, who based on the strictest definition of natural born citizenship, are not eligible.

So how could liberal media types even bring this up, when one of their own, Kamala, is currently in office.

BAGGAGE???

Baggage like doing a GREAT job despite being continuously trashed and standing up to it? I don’t call that baggage, I call it courage and leadership.

Vivek is getting the left very angry, so let him speak.

They will waste ink on him.

He needs to get tested before getting the big job. Will he keep this tone after the Pravda Communist news media starts napalming him? I hope so.

It’s ludicrous to want an Indian to be president. He’s not eligible and the founders sure as hell didn’t want an Indian to be president.

John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, wrote George Washington this letter when framing the presidential qualification clause:

To George Washington from John Jay, 25 July 1787

[From John Jay

New York 25 July 1787

Dear Sir

I was this morning honored with your Excellency’s Favor of the 22d Inst: & immediately delivered the Letter it enclosed to Commodore Jones, who being detained by Business, did not go in the french Packet, which sailed Yesterday.

Permit me to hint, whether it would not be wise & seasonable to provide a strong check to the admission of Foreigners into the administration of our national Government, and to declare expressly that the Command in chief of the american army shall not be given to, nor devolved on, any but a natural born Citizen.

Mrs Jay is obliged by your attention, and assures You of her perfect Esteem & Regard—with similar Sentiments the most cordial and sincere I remain Dear Sir Your faithful Friend & Servt]

“But now that Vilek and trump are LGBT supporters, conservatives are too. Very strange.”

Well what is considered “conservative” these days is open to debate. Some on the right have varying degrees of acceptance of homosexuals in general but draw the line at the insanity of those calling themselves transexuals. Just as some on the right are religious while others not so much. DeSantis is more of a conventional conservative hoping to appeal to the base. But I’m not so sure a conventional conservative has a chance of winning the general election anymore. This country and its culture has already been dragged too far left and going forward any conservative has to pick and choose what battles he wants to fight.

They were probably more worried about the other kind of Indian to bother with Vivek's kind.
