Russia, China, USA, all have lackluster economies and the house of cards for china is going right now. Ours soon to follow. Both tied to real estate. Russia doesnt have the same issue but theres no worldwide demand for rubles or investment there. So they are all hurting and when economies suck hard and the leaders suck, fhey all say lets start some wars to jumpstart the economy and kill off a bunch of men.

Well, there is some precedent for that. I’m sure we’ll be fighting each other one of these days; and maybe sooner than we’d want.

Wars prop up economies. Only people who win are the bankers and those running the banks.

As with Germany and Russia in WWII, eventually they will turn on each other.

Sorry Alaska but we’ve run out of ammo defending Ukraine.

Maybe surrender Alaska, should they threaten tactical nukes?

Of course it’s a threat. As we sit on this nuclear razors edge, any one of these saber rattling events or escalations around the world could very quickly degenerate into WWIII. Too, too many trip wires.

I agree. A moving foxhole attracts the eye and surface naval vessels are the new dinosaurs. In a real war the carnage on the first day would make Pearl Harbor seem like a picnic. It is the one fact of life that makes China hesitant to attack Taiwan. (Aside from the fact that Taiwan just might have nuclear weapons.)

You only get one sneak attack per war.

Germany and Russia were ideological opponents. The Communists regarded the Nazis as the final, decadent stage of capitalism, while the Nazis saw the Soviets as a Jewish controlled empire ready to collapse. They did ally to carve up Poland but the two countries did not engage in joint military operations. After the defeat of France, Hitler failed to defeat Britain, and he had his hands full bailing out Mussolini from the latter's incompetent military actions. However, Hitler decided it was time to collapse the Soviet Union in what he thought would be relatively easy.
There is no ideological divide between Russia and China. Both are run by veteran Communists, although both have adopted regulated market economies and Russia allows more room for religion than did the Soviet Union. They appear united in their goal of toppling the West, which they see as morally decadent and ruled by corrupt, stupid leaders (Biden). If they achieve success in dethroning the dollar and monopolizing the world's natural resources, there may be a split, especially after Putin and Xi are gone. But it is fatuous to hope for a split at this time.
To: ought-six
They’ll probably have it in the next 30 years.
