This is part of a long term trend.
The worst decline was in 2009-2010
It’s actually improved a bit lately.
Employment rate. 16-19

That is absolutely 100% false. The trade jobs were stolen by illegals who work for 1/10 the wages, who leach off the system, don’t pay taxes etc. These jobs were stolen, all to benefit the bush family type country club republican scum so they could save a few bucks at their fellow countrymens’ expense. Damn you neoCON globalist scum!
But consumer confidence is up!
Right.
Also a long term trend for workers in general, even in prime working age, 25-54

They see their future as tik tok influencers
Illegal immigration is the real culprit here, though yes, sellout globalism has obviously been less than helpful as well.
But it is also cultural decline that is at fault here as well.
Maybe perks got cut? State jobs may not be so great as used to be?
Maybe driving businesses into bankruptcy with lockdowns in 2020 reduced the employment opportunities in 2021? How about mandatory ‘vaccines’? Did that harm the willingness to work?
I like the little emoji like thing after your comment.
Social media is partially to blame. It gives the false impression that every young person, especially young women, are enjoying AMAZING lives 24/7.
Every young person wants to be an influencer, or have some other glamorous, celebrity oriented "creative" career. A job that offers fame, fortune, travel, flexibility (i.e, set your own hours), and office amenities like an on-site gym, a cafeteria that's a "foodie heaven," and the chance to "hook up" with attractive young colleagues who share your politics.
When I entered the workforce in the 1980s, young people were also influenced by celebrity culture, and a desire for glamorous jobs. But we still knew those jobs were rare.
Social media has increased the false impression that such jobs are everywhere, easy to obtain, and if you can't obtain it, you're somehow being cheated or are a loser.
Many of them are wasting their time with an useless major.
A few are being supported by their wealthy parents. Others are living off welfare from the government.
Nothing a war can’t take care of.
Too many illegals to compete with or, if educated, too many H1B. And the military, probably these young men are not mentally ill enough to want to serve with mentally ill men.
Lessers my butt.
The illegals undercut citizens in price. Then the illegals get free housing medical and food. In the end the illegal makes more than the American citizen does. And the American citizen has to pay for the illegals benefits.
And this does not take into account the fact that the American has to follow all the laws. Like pay taxes get licenses and insurance.
But hey whatever floats your boat. When I was young the Boomers complained how lazy the new generation was. Same thing happens every time a new generation hits the work force. What most call lazy is just a lack of training on how to be productive and the reasons for it. That is what happens when you first start working is you learn this.
Indolence is all the rage.
You get a job, go to work and get cancelled by the first Karen you make a joke near. You say something nice about a pretty girl’s appearance and then have to go through sensitivity training. You work your ass off and get good only to be passed over for promotion because a woman or minority has been more oppressed. You try to get a job but there are a whole bunch of H1B visa workers that don’t want to hire you unless you are in their caste which you are not. Mom and Dad haven’t told you to move out even though they paid for your bachelors degree but they feel guilty because they didn’t make you learn something useful instead of art criticism. Call of Duty is quite engaging and as long as you have internet there is always someone to play with.
I was a pre-teen in 1980. I already had a job. Paper-boy. It wasn’t full time, but add that to my class schedule and the fact that summers sucked because I had to quit what I was doing and deliver the afternoon paper, it seemed like full time. Been employed at something or other since I was 10.
When I was in high school, you were a loser if you didn’t at least have a summer job.
