“...Why did you place the black ghetto right next to the shopping district?”
I remember going through North on Peoria Ave, North Tulsa OK back in 1972. There was a nice new shopping center and across the street a black housing project.
One year later I went through there again. The entire shopping center was closed down and boarded up. Only the liquor store still open.
“Affordable housing” is giving money from taxpayers to “friends” of the politicians.
Where did the money go?
—Developer who paid bribes to get the federal/state/local money
—General contractor who paid bribes to get the contract
—Architect
—Environmental experts of various kinds to do studies and more studies
etc etc etc
Meanwhile the few suckers who actually pay their own way to live in these places will bail after their apartments/cars get broken into by the Section 8 residents.
In a few years the project turns into a slum.
In a few more years the project gets demolished.
Then start the process all over again...
The grifters never quit—they have a great thing going...
Great story and one which the wokesters don’t want to hear.
I’ve been living in the Utica/Rome area since around 1973, except for a 3 year gap when I was working at Auburn prison. Transferred back this way when they turned Marcy Psych Center into a prison. Retired from there in 2003. Have lived in Rome since the late 90’s. I have to say that it’s still a fairly quiet place...Not like Utica. Syracuse is pretty bad.
JUST UNDER $300,000 per home average.
