The election is 16 months from now. I think we should tighten the election campaign season to six months. It’s like we’re in constant election mode.

Biden is not going to be able to go out on the stump, so the bulk of it will be a mass media campaign. It will indeed be a repeat of 2020 - one of the most aggressive and well executed campaigns in history and it worked. The Biden campaign trounced the Trump campaign at every turn pretty much. That also effected the election outcome, regardless of any fraud. You have to actually counter your opponent’s efforts. The Trump campaign sat on its behind having circles run around them, and his supporters did the same - leaving their candidate out to dry with far fewer resources. We saw the same done to our candidates in 2018, 2020, and 2022, and it appears again in 2023. We’ll just blame “fraud! fraud!” for our own side’s laziness yet again, I’m sure. A rally, a party, or boat parades, sure. Donating money? Getting out the vote? Get outta here! That stuff ain’t fun!

Correct. The rhetoric is already at hand. Good ol’ Joe - the steady hand, the statesman, age old wisdom, etc. It isn’t what is true - it is what people see and believe. If the same mass media campaign is run in 2020 without a response from the Trump (or whomever) side to actually counter it this time, we give voluntary give them a huge advantage. They cleverly included these ads in national ad buys on the smaller over the air subchannels - individually lower rated than the big networks, but collectively viewed by many millions - uncontested. They were the only game in town for all of those viewers - and mostly older viewers who were the most likely to vote - exit polls showed marginal improvement for Biden among that group vs. Hillary Clinton - enough to change the outcome of the election. They were going after the 3rd party votes who were not comfortable voting for either Hillary nor Trump in 2016 - to feel “safe” with Biden.
