This is such a lie, for Ukraine would never have been in such a position if Kiev did not start the civil war attacking the Donbas.

Back up there! This war was started when Russia invaded Donbas. Ukraine was just trying to recover its sovereign territory occupied by the Russians. Without Russian support the pro-Russian militia could not have stood up to the Ukrainian army.

Well, a lot of us can play the anecdote game: There are some ethnic Ukrainian families in our neighborhood (and ethnic Poles, etc.; this is, after all, Northern Illinois); and virtually every one of them holds a position exactly opposite of what your anecdote claims. St Zelensky was elected on the platform of making Peace with Russia, what did he do? …..commissioned his Neo-Nazis to start shelling the Russian populations in the Donbass…..he is paying a terrible price….many Ukrainians know this….they know they have been played by the corrupted actor- and the US.
