I’ve got a feeling nobody’s ‘watertight’ in that situation, if you get my drift.
Do I think gender dysphoria offers distinct mental health issues that go far beyond opposite biological sex romantic attraction? Yes. The former is a self-denial and has all the mental issues related to that; as serious as schizophrenia. The latter, while attracted to the same sex romantically does not have that to contend with.

Reading the excerpt, I see nothing about Craig being reported as AWOL. If he was in the field with his unit at the time of Cameron’s death off-post, that might explain why the Army doesn’t regard Craig as a person of interest. It could also explain the excerpt’s slant as to why Craig seemed to have “disappeared” and then “returned”: Craig didn’t tell Cameron he was going into the field with his unit.
This is all so confusing!

Okay, article does say Craig lied about reporting for duty. ...But to whom? If the Army didn’t arrest him for being AWOL and does not regard him as a person of interest...then he was either in the field, on some sort of leave, or perhaps temporary duty somewhere unbeknownst to Cameron.
Is it possible that Craig was AWOL, but the Army is hesitant to charge demerits to gay and tranny soldiers? Because the top brass (and the Biden administration) wants statistics to reflect that gay and trannies make great soldiers?

So who’s getting blamed for doing something wrong here? Having a physical relationship with the same sex between consenting adults is not illegal. Having someone die of something isn’t either. Being bruised happens all the time to many people. So is this news or just trying to sell it as such?
But in the mean time, the army, the police and military coroner’s offices, and the local law enforcement are being glared at for not doing their job without the reader being told there is something...maybe. Everything the media has on what happened concerning the death is there to create news to sell papers. And every major reason for their attempting to place blame is speculation designed to create drama. I hate the media.

But if the Army (armed forces generally) excuses AWOL for “protected classes” and people figure it out, it will just drive recruiting down further and create an unfit and incapable force that cannot be relied upon for any duty.
