So long and thanks for all the fish....
“Black eyes…like a doll’s eyes…”
Well done!
Thank you! 😁😜🤣😂😊
U had to look for a couple of extra terms...
Universities = daycare for mid-adolescents.
They’re only snowflakes by design, which is exactly what this is supposed to install. Treat kids like sensitive snowflakes at all times during their upbringing and the result is a generation that thinks based on feelings. Mission accomplished.
What ever happened to ‘prepare them for the real world’? We have to hire these people.
Having a trigger warning for ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ for ‘graphic fishing scenes’ is absurd.
I looked into this a bit and found, to my surprise, that there are a number of old-time classics that have been slapped with trigger warnings, for various perceived “atrocities”. These include: “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” “To Kill a Mocking Bird”, “The Catcher in the Rye”, Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, as well as Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, and “Romeo And Juliet.”.
Glad that I read them all before the book burning.
I remember when people who followed their feelings were universally regarded as immoral. A lack of self control is equated with animals and criminals, not responsible human beings.
Well, then if ppl are animals does it make sense to accord them liberties and freedoms?
As I’ve often remarked, does anyone really think 40T of debt is going to be paid back with liberty and freedom? Nope.
So “trigger” warnings for pictures of fishing,

There are no pictures in the novella - just as the article says: descriptive fishing passages.
“‘Ooo! Ooo! It’s so big’”

Some kids still go to college for the old reasons: to drink beer, go to football games, and get laid.
I remember a cartoon from the 50’s(? maybe Bugs Bunny?) which was about a person singing “the world owes me a living”...only to be proven wrong. We used to teach kids how to be adults. Now we teach them to be perpetual children.
We all know that fishing was relatively unknown in the Scottish Islands. No wonder the young Scots have to be warned...
