Trump says he’s going to end it in one day. There is no way negotiation could end it in one day. Even if we unilaterally cut off aid, that would not do it in one day. Even if he threatened to drop the the abomb, that would not do it in one day. The only way I can see that he could end it in one day is by actually dropping the abomb.

Pence might have a valid point about letting Russia win, but it’s an assumption that that’s how Trump would stop the fighting.

Probably just as easy to argue that Ukraine is an occupying force in the east. That’s why this has been going on so long. The east doesn’t want to be governed by Kiev. Truth is, the government has, long ago, lost the consent of the governed. That, of course, is where Democracy no longer matters. The “elites” are happy to get your consent if you agree with them but the second you support someone they don’t want (see Trump) all bets are off.
That would swiftly make clear that Russia had no path to a military victory, while the sanctions would collapse the Russian economy and take the money of Putin and his allies. In one stroke, Russia would lose the war and Putin's hold on power and his wealth and that of his key allies would be put in immediate jeopardy.
Then you impose terms on Russia and Putin and his circle pending the results of final status negotiations. An immediate cease fire and a staged Russian withdrawal from all seized Ukrainian territory. Putin relinquishes power to an interim government. All political prisoners are released. Civil and political freedoms restored. Putin and his allies have to abide by the results of a free and fair election. Putin though gets to live and keep a substantial slice of his stolen wealth and two or three of his palaces.
Trump's imposition of sanctions and terms and threat to do more would be immediately credible to Putin. Mike Pence though is barely credible when announcing his meal selection at the local Denny's.
