This quote made me laugh out loud:

“While I might be paying a bit more in taxes in California, I like to think that what I’m getting in return for it–cleaner air and water, better schools, better parks, better hospitals–is more than worth it.”

It reminded me of a conversation years ago with my brothers about autos. One had purchased a Mercury versus a Ford. When quizzed on it I expected him to say he liked the styling better than the Ford version. Instead he said, “Mercury owners like to think their cars are just a LITTLE bit better.” That made us all laugh.

This guy doesn’t CLAIM it’s better. Just that he LIKES TO THINK it’s better.

David Nixon is probably like the guy who shows up at a mass-shooting and says that he is a gun-owner who believes guns should be outlawed. In other words, a FRAUD.
I wonder if this David Nixon takes advantage of tax deductions, tax credits, etc.
Does he even hire any tax professionals? Does he tell them to find the most costly way to prepare his income taxes?
I think he is the exception that proves the rule.

“Specifically, Nixon points to data from a Cornell Professor indicating that only 0.3% of millionaires move to lower-tax states.”

High wealth individuals can structure their finances in ways that most people can’t. And while very wealthy they might report litte taxable income. Tax rates impact income, not accumulated wealth.
