“In other words, these are millionaires who want to be taxed more.”

they obviously they don’t know how taxation works...

taxes are paid voluntarily, or so the IRS tells me anyway, so

Pay as much as you feel is “Your fair share” and STFU!!!

The highest income bracket is 13.9% not 12%.

Property taxes are about 1.6% of the assessed value of the home each year, but it is assessed at the date of purchase for most people (some exceptions, people who had re-assessments after the 2010 debacle had to sign an agreement that their properties would be re-assessed every 2 years so they could be facing problems with the recent 30%-40% gains since 2019).

Maybe this guy already has wealth parked somewhere, so won’t declare a ton of income in California... and wants to party like a rock star :-)

I wouldn’t doubt it.

California has some top rate hospitals.

Probably not the public schools either but I doubt that’s why he moved - unless he’s got kids going to elite private schools or UCLA or Berkeley. Sounds like he could afford out of state tuition if he did.

Parks, maybe. Depends on where. There are well known burglary rings who smash and grab from cars parked along the more popular hiking trails.

The Florida humidity is what keeps me away. Indeed, the whole south is too humid in summer for me. People look at me and ask me if I’m OK or if I’m having a heart attack because I just drip sweat anytime I’ve had to work in the south east. I’m not cut out for it.

Not to mention gasoline taxes, utilities taxes, sales taxes... But like I said, none of that really matters if you’re independently wealthy and here to party.

Damn, no picture. Probably a sloping forehead, slack jaw and drooling on his tie.

CA middle class is all be dead on the floor. Eventually the majority of those in CA will be the wealthy along with their illegal servants. And if not for foreign nationals with money, the CA housing markets would nose dive. That’s why many places in CA now resemble the U.N. general assembly.

Pity his children, if he has any. What a maroon as Bugs Bunny often quipped.

This quote made me laugh out loud:

“While I might be paying a bit more in taxes in California, I like to think that what I’m getting in return for it–cleaner air and water, better schools, better parks, better hospitals–is more than worth it.”

It reminded me of a conversation years ago with my brothers about autos. One had purchased a Mercury versus a Ford. When quizzed on it I expected him to say he liked the styling better than the Ford version. Instead he said, “Mercury owners like to think their cars are just a LITTLE bit better.” That made us all laugh.

This guy doesn’t CLAIM it’s better. Just that he LIKES TO THINK it’s better.

David Nixon is probably like the guy who shows up at a mass-shooting and says that he is a gun-owner who believes guns should be outlawed. In other words, a FRAUD.
I wonder if this David Nixon takes advantage of tax deductions, tax credits, etc.
Does he even hire any tax professionals? Does he tell them to find the most costly way to prepare his income taxes?
I think he is the exception that proves the rule.

“cleaner air and water, better schools, better parks, better hospitals”, this guy obviously doesn’t know anything about California.

The air isn’t to bad anymore if you don’t mind breathing other peoples farts all the time (to many people here),

there isn’t enough water to go around right now and it’s going to get a lot worse with all the ILLEGAL ALIENS putting more strain on the system plus the State Government is to STUPID to build more resevoirs,

better schools? he should check out Oakland or LA Unified, if your kids don’t get mugged and murdered they will be on drugs in about a week or two,

better parks! really good places to get raped-robbed-shot-stabbed and DEAD,

better hospitals—REALLY, if you could just get past all the gunshot/knife wounds from the gang bangers and all the exotic DISEASES from the illegal aliens I guess they are OK

This guy is to stupid for words!.

Wrong on all counts! the hood rats and general criminal element have finally figured out where the good money is and they are hitting Beverly Hills, Westwood, San Francisco, Napa, etcetera.

It just takes a little time for them to get to the high rollers.

Remember the tech millionaire that got stabbed to death in Frisco.

That must be why the wineries and Malibu are all empty now.

“Specifically, Nixon points to data from a Cornell Professor indicating that only 0.3% of millionaires move to lower-tax states.”

High wealth individuals can structure their finances in ways that most people can’t. And while very wealthy they might report litte taxable income. Tax rates impact income, not accumulated wealth.
