Biden painted himself into a corner. He promised to pick a woman, and all but promised to appoint an African-American. Harris was what was left (Val Demings, the other possibility wasn’t as popular with the party left).

Thank you, so If Joe died suddenly, Kamala would be sworn in and be able to help? select a VP candidate that would become her actual VP with the cooperation of a friendly US Senate?

“Try again. The military are neocons.”
Yea, I know. Didn’t want to get more specific. Top leadership, no hope - maybe there’s some general, somewhere, who’s actually heard of the term “megaton”, before.

Harris may want to stray, but neither she nor anybody on her team is likely to get very far.
Like most Democrats, she’s been following the party line her whole career. She isn’t equipped to break with it or make and carry through choices of her own.

Yep. FJB might have died last week for all we know. Can’t walk, can’t talk, can’t think. A hologram runs the USA.

I really liked “Give-them-hell Harry.” A smart Democrat, one of the few. Of course he was prez before the USA lost it’s collective mind.

Liberals weren’t worried about Biden’s health when he was ahead of Trump in the polls.
Just saying....

We had presidential deaths before. Harris is president and the senate picks a VP. God help us.

Harris will be lauded for unifying the US during a national crisis. The script is already written. It is only awaiting exposure.
To: desertsolitaire
Yep, she would make the nomination and a simple majority of Congress would need to approve.

Perhaps Kamel is who Obama/Soros wants. She is ideal for a figurehead if the power arrangements are not yet sorted out in the Party for one man. She is an easily controllable flibbertigibbet who will provide a picture for the disdain of the crowd while the real work is carried out by the Obama/Soros politburo.

Could be serious. Hillary has been seen making a few phone calls.
To: rktman
Buttigieg? He may be younger than Biden, but perhaps equally incompetent.
If the DNC decides Biden has to go, they would probably consider Newsome or another governor of a large state to be more viable.
To: napscoordinator
When there is a vacancy in the Vice Presidency, the President nominates a new one, but that person must get a majority vote in favor in both houses of Congress. So Harris might have to pick someone relatively uncontroversial, rather than an AOC type.

The Democratic Party in 1944 was not totally leftist dominated. Because the South was effectively a one party region, conservatives who would have been Republicans in the North and West were Democrats. Some of the white Catholic political bosses in the Northeast and Midwest were anti-communist and social conservatives. FDR was known to be in poor health by Democratic Party insiders. The moderate and conservative factions pressured FDR to drop Henry Wallace, knowing that it was probable that he would become President. Harry Truman was a border state Senator and tied to the Pendergast political machine in Kansas City. He was thus acceptable to the Northern and Southern moderate to conservative factions.
