Got a link to that article?
When I tell people that, they act like I have told them to do nothing. People would rather give to a charity and get a tax deduction than actually helping someone personally and directly.
SPCA needs to be on that list. Saw a recent comment that ONLY 3% gets to the animals. CEO making over $856,000 per year.
George, we have a problem. There’s a memo, here, from accounting telling me there’s no such thing as the Human Fund.
I went to the Daily Mail link, clicked on its link to a TampaBay FL newspaper article. Near the first paragraph of the DailyMail article.
yes. and i think political ‘charities’ like Federalist Society rank right up there at this point.
The tax deduction for charitable contribution should be tied to the percentage the charity gives to the intended recipients. Only 5.7% gets to poor Haitians? You only get a deduction on 5% of your contribution.
When Detroit’s Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was finally brought to justice in 2018 some of his stolen money was a fund meant to underprivileged children:
DETROIT (Reuters) - Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick took money meant for seniors and children and drove up costs for taxpayers under a long-running criminal enterprise that forced contractors to reward his friends and family, a federal prosecutor said on Monday.
Voters had hoped Kilpatrick would reverse decades of decline in Detroit when he was elected the youngest mayor in city history in 2001. Instead, he faces 30 charges including racketeering conspiracy, bribery, extortion and tax fraud.
“Everything you need to know about this case is in this sentence: No deal without me,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Bullotta said in closing arguments on Monday to jurors in the five-month long trial in Detroit federal court.
Prosecutors have accused Kilpatrick of conspiring with friend Bobby Ferguson, a construction company owner, and his father, Bernard Kilpatrick, in a more than decade-long criminal enterprise.
“If you want a city contract you had to pay,” Bullotta said. “It doesn’t matter if you weren’t the most qualified or that Bobby Ferguson was the higher bid or the mayor’s office got calls about bad service at Cobo Hall, what mattered is that Bobby Ferguson and Bernie Kilpatrick got paid.”
Executive Compensation at Feeding America (2021) $969,325.Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the top executive at Feeding America — which represents food banks — got a raise of nearly $154,000 in the group's 2021 fiscal year, bringing her total compensation to $969,325. Farm Credit leader Todd Van Hoose had a bigger increase, bumping his compensation more than $191,000 higher to a total of $1,038,004 in 2020. But both raises pale in comparison to the $756,331 bump given to American Beverage Association executive Katherine Lugar, putting her total salary at $1,827,366 for her most recently reported salary. - https://www.agri-pulse.com/articles/18197-ag-food-and-rural-organization-ceos-are-an-exclusive-and-lucrative-group
When companies try to guilt customers to round up, add money to the cost, put out jars … to collect for charity does the corporation get the tax write down as if they donated their funds to charity? Do they get to write off the cost for raising those funds….
Rough Example:
Think every customer gets 30 seconds of “fundraising” is that time now a deductible charitable cost/charitable gift?
All the collected money goes into the companies charitable account so the bookkeeping gets charged off as part of their gift.
Do Companies raised funds from customers go to green energy or homosexual or Minorities (BLM) organizations and hence they also get benefit to ESG increased score.
Companies may contribute no actual monies themselves but gets great benefits of customers donation via lower taxes …
“Every $0.98 of every dollar goes to veterans via Code of Vets. Helped them out a while back.”
Founding Fathers coffee donates 50% of all profits to helping military families.
Black Rifle Coffee Company on the other hand mostly hands out swag, one of the BRCC owners was pro Hillary, the other donated to Obama.
BRCC recently gave out more money to an organization that relocates wild sheep ($25k) than they gave to a veterans organization in Texas ($10k).
The #metoo charity in hollywood was one of those that took in money but did nothing for the actress’s and actors that were raped or sexual abused.
.
What about the federal government? Do they pay taxes on all the land they own? What about buildings? Personal property taxes on vehicles? What about free meals and government security? The “power elites” are just as corrupt as any third world dictatorships (and that definitely includes the Ukraine).
Thank you.
There are some good charities out there. Samaritan’s Purse is another one. People need to do their research.
When we had rural fire services, my wife was sending $$ to a national organization that was distributing $0.10 of every $1.00 and none was coming to our community so I put a stop to that & we started donating directly to our local volunteer station.
