“mall had also hired two off-duty officers”
Cops can’t arrest anyone. Would they scold the dregs?
Maybe I’m naive, but I used to enjoy going to malls. So convenient. I never saw any like the ones described here — dirty, smelly.
Once, under the drinking fountain at my office at City Hall there was a fresh steaming pile. THAT was a shock!
What do recent SF home and condo buyers think about outrageous mortgage, property tax, and insurance costs as the re-sale value of their investments crash?
And, if you lose your job, how are you supposed to pay for any of these things?
SF is utopia for real estate vultures with ready cash!
Cut programs? How naive of you. They never cut programs, they raise taxes.
Retail closures will accelerate until this district is empty and resembles an apocalyptic movie.
I was always a strong supporter of malls and loved the idea of being away from the snow and ice inside, having troublemakers watched by security and having a great place to shop and walk.
Taking them away (young and then all ages using internet to shop, building big box stores) was a blow to me.
My favorite really early mall (1960s) is in the process of being demolished. The owner sold it and cited lower sales and “safety concerns” for the reason. Warehouses for industrial companies will replace most of the big site.
Should have shown the Atlas Shrugged trilogy.
