Urban commuters defending themselves on a train should get away as soon as they have succeeded in defeating the criminal(s). Don't talk about your self-defense, even with a family member. This is the urban version of the rural “shoot, shovel, and shut up.”
Walk home if at all possible. Hang out at a restaurant or a bar for a couple of hours until the police are gone if you cannot walk home. Don't call a taxi or an Uber; the police can trace these types of trips.

Those days are gone. Now there are cameras everywhere, including in public conveyances, with footage available wirelessly to police detectives, and facial recognition software.
