A German corporation? I don’t think you’ve thought this out.
Still shopping for a Tesla with an 8-track tape deck.
Bid LIGHT the creeps.
You cannot listen to podcasts, like radio. It is not possible to have your phone tied up on your work desk as you listen to a program. I turn on my car radio and listen all the time, because the time on the road is fairly short.
We must keep AM radio, it is the logical place for information and entertainment. When the Cell phones go down, the internet is down, what do we all do?
Yup. Radio station XERP out of Rosarito, Mexico at 50,000 watts. Listened to him every night in LA back in day.
Oh yeah, heck it’s been 15 years since I even tried to use AM Radio.
Oops, that should have been XERB (1090 Soul Express).
Automakers’ push to remove AM radio in new cars gets pushback from Capitol Hill
Manufacturers such as BMW, Mazda, Tesla, and Volkswagen are taking AM radio out of new electric vehicles over concerns their engines will interfere with how AM stations sound, according to The Washington Post.
Major U.S. automaker Ford is eliminating AM radio from nearly all of its new vehicles – gas and electric – citing data showing less than 5% of in-car listening is from those stations.
The proposed transition is already facing opposition from a big-time lobby group, Capitol Hill, and beyond.
I listen to more AM stations than I do to FM stations.
For music, it’s mainly from the SD Card.
AM is where a lot of conservative Christian Talk stations are.
Hard to fit a proper 1/4 wave (31 inches) AM antenna on a “Govt. CAFE standards” car/truck anymore...they have gone to “shark fin” type antennas & in window glass PCB “trace” types but they offer reduced AM signal strength.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sens. Ed Markey (MA), Ted Cruz (TX), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Deb Fischer (NE), Ben Ray Luján (NM) and J.D. Vance (OH), and Reps. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), Bruce Westerman (AR-4), Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-7), Rob Menendez (NJ-8) and Maria Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-3), introduced legislation today in response to some automakers taking AM radio out of their new vehicles. The bipartisan, bicameral AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act directs the Secretary of Transportation to ensure consumer access to AM radio in all vehicles.
The Left: The Nazis used AM radio, so AM is bad.

William Powell Lear (June 26, 1902 – May 14, 1978) was an American inventor and businessman. He is best known for founding Learjet, a manufacturer of business jets. He also invented the battery eliminator for the B battery, and developed the car radio and the 8-track cartridge, an audio tape system.[1] Throughout his career of 46 years, Lear received over 140 patents.[2]
Bill Lear worked with his friend Elmer Wavering to build the first car radio.[4] Lear partnered with Howard Gates of Zenith; Lear designed the circuit and layout, Gates did the metal work, and Lear completed the assembly. Galvin initially dismissed the prototype, but later ordered a 200-unit production run. Galvin and Lear mulled over names for the product on a cross-country trip and came up with “Motorola”, which was a portmanteau of “motor” and the then popular suffix “-ola” used with audio equipment of the time (for example “Victrola”). The product was such a success that Galvin changed the name of his entire company to Motorola.[1][3]: 23, 24
