Well, a republican controlled congress passed it late in 2016 for Obama to sign, and the Trump admin didn’t really stop it, and Trump appointed Perdue announced it in December of 2018.

Inflation also makes it easier to pay off the debt. Inflation allows borrowers to pay lenders back with money worth less than when it was originally borrowed. For that reason, the Dems are encouraged to spend more and increase the debt. It becomes fundamentally an addiction.
Your perception is correct. Everything including food and fuel are delivered by diesel trucks. The increased cost of diesel gets passed along. This is especially cruel with groceries because the grocery industry’s profit margin is very thin to start with.
In general, the “grunts” (lower level govt employees) are competent, with the occasional exception. As one goes higher and higher in mgt, culminating in DC, one gets Biden level mgt competence. Been in govt for decades, these days the mgt is so unsupportive of the mission (ones not harming the US), that it is amazing things work at all. I am being polite here.
