Insuring they’ll be targeted for decades to come by paying the terrorists

The City of Torrance was hacked a couple years ago. I think it refused to pay up, and took a few months to recover and restart. They did find they had more backed up stuff than they first thought. Life went on.

“I don’t see anything in the article that says the ransom payment worked”

Well, someone received the money so it appears it worked very well. Has the Sheriff checked the DNC’s bank balance to see if there has been a deposit that matches the amount and timing of the payment?

If it is an inside job they will definitely not want to talk about it.

Nobody has better access to a computer system than IT employees and/or contractors.

The company I last worked at had a ransomware attack on the network. Not all systems affected. The solution was to wipe the drives and put back a backup from a day before the attack. Any new files on the day of the attack were lost.
