What would be the DS's best outcome in 2024?
A Trump victory in the primary over the FL Freedom candidate. Then a spectacular Trump failure in the general - with generous evidence of probably unneeded D cheating. Which, of course, always happens Trump or not.
Who is the one seemingly working hardest toward this goal? Appealing strongly to his Cult of Nebulous Greatness while purposely disgusting Greater America.
With multiple Levels times multiple Branches of govt, it is, by brilliant design of inspired Founders, hard to take over all of them in one cycle.
However... there are only 2 major Parties. One mostly still favors American style Freedom. The other favors Tyranny, benevolent or not.
Whether himself a deep or a dupe, the DS clearly loves The Don. Because he is a populist transforming the R party more fundamentally than Obama transformed America.
A party based on principle is durable - one warrior falls, the next grabs his sword. A party hazardously centered upon a single man can be destroyed easily - the bigger the ego, the harder the fall. And the more dominoes tipped.
Suppression polls are tactical. Suppress elections are strategic.
To destroy the R party for multiple cycles via the all-is-lost, the-savior-is-dead... I-give-up crowd. During which time DS and the D party can turn the SC blue, pass the fed take-over of elections, ban self defense, mandate shots, elect Speaker AOC, confirm Warren over Treasury and Bill Gates over Ag, Bragg as AG, etc.
We know Trump is NOT a deep thinker - no talk of VSG anymore.
Maybe he is a deep stater.
And maybe the DS strategy has shifted, strategically based on destroying the R party first - move it away from enduring principle and focus it onto a man. An easily beaten man. Preferable a charismatic one to draw praise away from principle.
Levels * Branches = lots of races to be fixed.
Populists - principle = the opening for 1 party to be broken.
If the gatekeeper Party goes down, the Branches and Levels fall.
With his massive ego and missing foundation, SuperDon just might be the Embedded Party Bomb for which the DS has begged Santa and beseeched Satan since Freedom first rang.

My DW, a Dem in her youth, but long-time GOPer and GOP voter for the past many decades, has stated that she's so sick of Trump's name calling and unstatesmanlike behavior that she'll not vote for him again. She does not make idle statements, btw.
POTUS candidates need to cultivate every possible demo as there are so many undecideds and mis-informed voters. Sad to say, many newer voters (and there are 8 years of young voters added to the rolls since 2016) vote on appearance and "feeling".
Trump's childish name-calling and insults and foolish undermining attempts of rivals have not helped him with the very demos that he needs to impress positively.

Ronald Reagan was a master at this. If DeSantis is able to do 10% of what Reagan was able to do, he'll win the election easily. And it looks to me that is what he did in Florida.
i know how important those things are to people who fuss about "brand," but with that, you've pretty much just admitted that DeSantis ain't that special.
