Must be a Georgia speciality. I remember French toast in Savannah in 1998. It was fabulous.
Not deep fried though. Your choice sounds wonderful.
I remember asking the waitress if I should have the French toast or something else. She told me how it was made, and my reaction was “Oh, I MUST have that!”
And darn glad I did.
In Seattle lots of people are still wearing masks outside and I imagine don’t go to restaurants. Even the Seattle suburbs still. Get out of the general area and it is business as usual. The two stores in the suburbs of Portland are in decent areas I think with regard to crime. Bend is rural and lots of tourists. I’m surprised about that one.
You have to also realize that towns out West grew up around water stops for the rail roads, about 20+ miles apart. A lot of small towns died as the range of steam locomotives increased, and then, when diesel-electrics took over, and rail stopped carrying mail, it drove the nails into the coffins of many small towns and whistle stops.
It ia a whole 'nother world. Kansas, Eastern Colorado, the highest spot in the county is the trash dump. You can see a town 30 miles away, when you look for a grain silo.

Even with inflation, when ALL Cracker Barrel restaurants in your city is closing, then it is obvious your city has serious problems. It’s not simply inflation that is causing the closures, since inflation is nation-wide and worse in some areas than others. I suspect the crime level in the city is keeping customers away (and I suspect employees as well) as no one wants to chance being mugged or murdered while going to work or going out to eat.
CB is known for attracting the perfect type victim. Middle aged couple, wife with purse on her arm, husband with cash in his wallet, with both having cell phones, wedding bands, and likely other jewelry. With large parking lots the thugs have easy pickings!
