Resisting an armed invasion and large-scale land seizure is not "provocation" or "escalation."
Assisting a friendly sovereign nation against a massive military invasion is likewise not "provocation" or "escalation."

I agree with Trump. And that 100+ BILLION we gave Ukraine could have been spent on the border wall and tax breaks for people who wanted to send their kids to a non-public school.

The problem Putin faces is this: When you invade a sovereign country, YOU'RE the bad guy.
Now you and I may not see ANY good guys in all this, because there aren't. The problem is, the rest of the world (uneducated, ignorant, pre-programmed by the media) doesn't. They just see "Putin bad!" without seeing "Zelensky bad!" too.

In the US, we think of the country as having unchangeable borders (even as we let people cross them without any restrictions). Few people remember a time when there were less than 50 states, and hardly anyone recalls the lower 48 states looking any different than they do today. But in Europe, national boundaries have been changing throughout history. The shape of Eastern Europe in particular has been altered numerous times during the lifetime of most people. Annexations and realignments should not be the reason for war, as changes made today could be changed back later. This does not mean that I believe Russia should have invaded Ukraine, but rather a negotiated settlement should have been reached.

Correct. Donbas has endured shelling from the Ukraine Nazi militias for 8 years. They seek protection from Putin. Trump would let Russia have the Donbas and Donesk regions. They are mostly Russian and want to join Russia anyway. As did Crimea.
The only one doing any invasion are the Russians. It is Ukraine that needs a buffer against Russian invaders.
