The way most states award electors is a threat to democracy. The winner take all system disenfranchises a large part of the population. Electors should be allotted by the results in each Congressional district.

Why in the hell would we reward states who allow uncontrolled immigration of unnaturalized illegal aliens with the ability to choose the President over all citizens?

This formula got scratched out using a quill pen in 1787.
More wisdom was scratched out with a quill pen in 1787 than ever came from the keyboards of modern morons such as these folks.
It's a generous thing to call them ignorant morons - the only other term for people espousing such a change is 'traitor'.

Why does anyone read the (s)Hill any more?
It is just the print version of the Lincoln Project.

Every time I read the phrase “our democracy” all I can think of is the woke communist takeover and fagotization of our relatively free country. When I hear it, I picture a mob of entitled, money-grubbing parasites.

This is why they created the Electoral College in the first place. The Founding Fathers knew they didn't want the urban areas to dominate national elections.

“danger to our democracy”
We don’t have a democracy, so there is no danger.

Why does anyone read the (s)Hill any more? I think their readership plummeted sharply when they shut off the comments section, which contained excellent reader commentary, including corrections, on the articles in question.

“They’re actually communists.”
No, Communism requires recipients to help themselves to the extent they can.
“Jeder nach seinen Fähigkeiten, jedem nach seinen Bedürfnissen”
RINOs are often communists. Many leading Democrats are just vote-buying scumbags.

Our The wisdom of the Fathers vs. algorithms programed by leftist techies. Gee, that’s a tough one. These pricks undoubtedly think the Bill of Rights is archaic and racist and needs to be updated (or eliminated) as well.

Our democracy ... Democracy? We are a constitutional Republic. If you believe the electoral college is not democratic, the same argument applies to our election of Senators; i.e., disproportionate power where low population states hold equal power to high population states. If you want 1 man 1 vote for all things, eliminate the concept of states and make all laws require passage by referendum vote by voters where a simple majority of voters make law.

We have a Republic, which the electoral College protects. Further more, our Republic is a federation of 50 individual sovereign entities.
This wise arrangement was a gift to posterity from our forefathers who were unquestionably better and brighter than anyone in public life today.
