Hersh is one of the best investigative journalist in history with superior sources. And, he put his reputation on the line to go against the Democrat party and the leftists in the mainstream media.

Hersh's original article is extremely detail-oriented on how US navy divers performed the demolition operation. Someone in the administration's circle of trust spilled his guts. So far, none of the big shots, Biden, Blinken, Sullivan, Burns, Nuland, have denied Hersh's report.

And really, even before the Hersh article, you were one of the few people left in world who actually believed the Russians bombed their own pipeline.

At this point I really don’t know what or whom to believe..I do think that the U.S. military had a significant role in this ecological nightmare, but not sure to what extent...Diogenes would have a fit were he alive today...

Hersh is still, after decades, somewhat inept in dealing with the operational details of the military. To witt:
SEYMOUR HERSH: They did have a way. There were people there who understood what we call in America “mine warfare.” In the United States Navy, there are groups that go into submarines — there’s also one command about nuclear engineering — and there is a mining command. Underground mining is very important, and we have skilled miners. Probably the most important place for training miners is in this little resort town called Panama City in the middle of nowhere in Florida.

This is the USN heavy suit diving school. It was previously located at the Washington Navy Yard for many years. WNY was a less than good location by the time it moved about 1982. The water in the Anacostia River is dirty, dark and contains a lot of hard and heavy objects. Weather is cold and unpredictable about half the year and yes there is a classified component to the hevy suit trade so getting it out of DC made sense. However the facility at Panama City Fl is not fundamentally some sort of spook school. Its purpose is to train the people who conduct hundreds of routine under water hull inspections each year. The expdlosive training is primarily focused on traing divers to use explosives to clear under water navigation hazards. Finally, Panama City is not exactly in the middle of nowhere but is one of a string of middle sized cities along the west panhandle coast of Flrorida.

Hersh’s article also described so many parties involved that the plot would have been exposed before it ever got in physical motion. The Norwegians in particular are howling with laughter.

Now, I will say the details of the physical operation DO read as if they came from either a diver involved or their immediate superior. My guess is that THEIR superior wants attention deflected down the wrong path, and Hersh, as he has done before, fell for it. It does NOT require a top end Navy to pull this off.

Also, the risk/reward equation here is insanely bad for the US. Biden’s comments, with Scholz literally standing right beside him sound cooperative to me — “we” in this context would be the US and Germany, working to end reliance on Nordstream.

I’d look at any party including non-state parties that could come up with a submersible and with very large (billions of $$ / Euro / Yen) likely profit or advantage from Russia needing other outlets for its gas, or from a global shortage. The Russia angle only comes in IMO if Russia might have thought it could crack NATO, but in that case a planted story almost certainly would have popped sooner. Any opportunity to split NATO in THIS sort of manner has passed.
